What does a successful student look like? This course focuses on the traits and in particular the skills that help make a student successful at Seattle Prep. Over the course of three weeks, the emphasis will be on gaining organizational skills, time management, successful testing strategies, reading comprehension and retention, answering questions with clarity and self-advocacy training. Students will receive both small and large group coaching from our music specialists and camp counselors. We will also have fun with musical games and activities throughout the day to build teamwork and a positive group dynamic. During the week we will be working up to a concert on Friday afternoon to share what we have learned. We hope each student will enjoy the week of learning new music and making new friends! Footsteps Mandarin Immersion Summer Camp is an opportunity for extended Mandarin immersion. While having a fantastic time, your child will begin to acquire the ability to use Mandarin correctly and confidently in various daily tasks and social situations. Our dynamic, experienced staff is either native speaking or fluent. Campers spend each day moving from one activity to the next, designed to provide an immersion experience while still allowing for a ton of fun. Your child will love exploring the language and traditions of China by tasting authentic Mandarin cuisine—using Chinese words, of course, and learning about and creating traditional Mandarin arts and textiles and taking field trips to expand your childs knowledge. This camp gives young performers a chance to experience being in a theatrical production, focusing on individual and group creativity while working collaboratively as a team. Students will play theatrically based games and work hard on learning and rehearsing for a show. This camp also allows students to experience the rehearsal process and is a great way to prepare them to be a part of a full length play or musical in school or in the community. The campers will participate in a musical through learning songs, dances, and scenes for them to perform as a whole by the end of the session. INSTRUCTOR MICHAEL PAGE has been teaching theater for 8 years and has been choreographing in local community theaters for the past 10 years. He recently received a BA in Theater and Dance from Christopher Newport University. He currently works as a Music and Movement Teacher at VHBC Preschool as well as teaches classes at LTA, Mount Vernon REC Center, and Browne Academy. He teaches private acting, dancing, and guitar lessons from his home.
