Be A Civil War Soldier: KID’S CAMP - Mansfield, LA
Have you ever wanted to be a Civil War soldier? Are you between 9-12 years old? On Saturday 24th, in connection with National Public Lands Day, Mansfield State Historic Site is hosting an “immersive” event that will allow you to experience what many of the soldiers of the American Civil War did. Be enlisted, set up your camp, drill, enjoy a period type lunch, and more! There are 15 slots available for this program and pre-registration is required. Registration is $25 (paid on day of program) for each child, which includes the meal. The last day for Pre-Registration is September 17th. You will create lots of cool artwork inspired by the great outdoors in this beautiful setting. Artwork may include paper mache, mobiles, sculptures from natural and recycled materials, mosaics, painting in the style of famous artists, collage and lots more! Play lots of games, sports and explore the park. On Wed campers walk to the Bethesda pool adjacent to the park. Campers must pass a swimming test or stay in the shallow end. Bring a bag lunch. There will be a $25 dollar material fee due the first day. Judo Fun Camp - Tilden Middle School
This program, coached by a French Judo instructor. Judo is a martial art from Japan. Coach Frederic has been teaching Judo to students around the world for over 25 years. While teaching disciplines such as politeness, respect, self control and concentration students will also learn the complex forms of the martial art known as Judo. This martial arts program will teach and train students on the proper technique, muscular development, calisthenics, stretching, joint rotation, exercises, endurance training, sparring and sparring related drills. Everyday, you will improve your balance and have fun with many activities about judo like crafts, drawing, writing. Japanese and learn few words in French. Fun games, fun activities and contests, lets move your body and your creativity skills. Venture on and around the water using maps and clues to solve these maritime mysteries. Use compasses, kayaks, microscopes, historical stories, and animal evidence to decipher the hints to reveal and find your destinations. Go geocaching, utilize compasses, and use magnifying glasses and microscopes to help reveal some of the millions of planktonic animals and algae living all around us. 860-535-9362

Ages 10-15: Capital Ultimate Frisbee Camp is a fun alternative for kids who want an active camp but are tired of the same old sports. Ultimate Frisbee is a fast growing, fast paced game that combines skills used in sports like soccer, football and basketball. campers totally newto Frisbee will learn the fundamentals: catching, throwing backhand, forehand, etc. More experienced players will sharpen and extend those skills, plus learn defensive skills, field positioning and more. Every Camper gets a disc, a microfiber athletic shirt, and a CUC hat. We provide a daily snack but campers bring their own lunch. The camp site has changes as of Feb. 11, 2016; camp will be held at Tilden Woods Local Park.
