This affordable summer camp pulls out all the stops. My 12 year old son has attended this camp the last 4 years. The camp teaches youngsters ages 8-14 survival skills if they are ever lost or in a dangerous situation. They learn simple things such as how to treat a bee sting, to complex issues such as creating an overnight shelter to sleep in. These skills help create independence and confidence in children.... Materials Science - Ensworth High School
How does stuff break? To answer this question, students investigate how stuff is made and in doing so, will break stuff! Destructive and nondestructive tests will be conducted to investigate catastrophic failures such as bridge collapse, airplane structural failure, containers that leak, pipes that burst, and electrical failures. Advances in materials are at the core of significant technological advances, and we are in a materials revolution today! Students experience a hands-on introduction to materials science, engineering, and technology, joining researchers who push boundaries further than ever before, using biology, chemistry and physics to expand our technological frontiers. Minimum 10 students. PREREQUISITE: prerequisite Science Levels 1 and 2 CREDIT: Semester upper course credit in Science 615-383-0661

Learn to track animals in the woods, cook over a campfire, and pitch a tent. Make lifelong friends at this unique summer experience. Campers need to bring a filled water bottle and a packed lunch that does not require refrigeration. All campers receive a T-shirt. Register early to ensure your spot!
