LATEST CAMPS NEWS: Week 8: Day Camp Assistant Training (Leadership Development) - Camp Tanadoona
Day Camp Assistant (DCA) Training is the first step in Tanadoonas leadership development program. DCAs spend the first half of the week engaging in teambuilding workshops and interactive leadership training with lead camp staff. Training includes first aid, behavior management, specialty programming and basic counselor skills. DCAs immediately apply their training when they are partnered with Tanadoona Counselors to assist with Day Camp groups during the second half of the week. Staying overnight on Thursday to help with the Thursday Overnight campers provides additional experiential learning. We recommend a minimum of two years of DCA before progressing to CIT. 612-235-7284

Kids Dojo premier mountain bike programs Spring Break Camp 4/4-4/8 A Spring break program designed to get kids riding! Well ride a variety of local mountain biking trails, and work on specific skills at a local bike pump track. Your child will learn trail safety and courtesy, how to handle different terrain, the art of cornering and managing obstacles, and much more! Bike Dojo will help your child build confidence and hone skills in a fun, safe environment. This class is appropriate for all levels (students will be grouped by ability level following the first day). Class meets at Scotts Valley Cycle Sport, 203 Mount Hermon Road. Students are dropped off at 9:00am and picked up at 4:00pm. Students will be transported via our safe and insured Dojo Bike vans to trail locations. Bikes can be provided upon request with 48 hours of first day of class ( MUST CALL BIKE DOJO AT 831-713-5475). Please bring snacks, helmets, gloves and water each day (camelbacks preferred). Become a safer, more confident, and experienced cyclist. Explore the paths in Vasona Park and along Los Gatos Creek Trail from end to end. Take breaks to investigate life along the creek. Practice and improve your bike skills, such as panic stops, avoiding obstacles and navigating steep grades. Learn how make sure that your bike is in good working order and complete some basic repairs. Experiment with gears, examine the inner workings of bicycles, and learn some biking physics. Look at different kinds of bikes and see what they are designed to do best. Participants must bring their own helmet, two-wheel bicycle with gears and be comfortable riding up and down hills.
