Grades: K - 12th This weeks theme "Water Olympics Week" Parents, is your child ready to have fun and make new friends this summer? If yes, then bring your child to the coolest hot spot in town. The Lacey Park Day Camp is full of fun activities for children grades K thru 6th. This is an outdoor recreation camp. Campers will learn about the benefits of being physically active; as well as, having a healthy lifestyle in the outdoors. Each week campers will engage in various group games, art projects, participate in a talent show and weekly field trips to the Hanford Teen Center, Hanford Plunge and the local Library. Free breakfast and lunch will be provided. A weekly food menu will be provided at request. If your child has a particular taste, you may consider bringing a sack lunch for your child. The park in the summer is hot, please send your child to the park with a bottle of water and sunscreen. Staff will provide an igloo of cold water for refills. I sent my teenager to the Taft Summer School in Watertown, CT this past summer and I am so glad I did! She was able to get intensive learning in a school environment, but it wasn't school. It was more fun and had a lot of extras, so she was able to get the best of both worlds. The teachers are excited to teach and that’s why the campers learn so much. Our Jr. S.T.E.A.M. Team members (ages 3-5), our S.T.E.A.M. Team members (ages 6-9), and our Counselors-in-Training (ages 10-13) will join forces to solve mysteries, visit the Louvre, take on the Big Apple, and visit the Texas Zoo. Families can register their campers for just one adventure or they can take on the full S.T.E.A.M. Team challenge by signing up for all 4 camps, giving them the title of Jr. CDM Ambassador (ages 3-9) or CDM Ambassador (ages 10-13). Summer Track Club (5-10): 9:00-11:00 - The Hockaday School
Speed: Runners, on your mark… Go! Sprint your way into new running technique that will improve speed. Join the Track Club to learn speed drills and footwork fundamentals with track equipment. This camp will teach kids to enjoy competition. Our campers will participate in games and kid-friendly contests of some of the drills. Distance: Pace yourself from start to finish. Children will remain lifelong runners with the right shoes and the right distance. Running longer and farther is one of the best ways to keep our campers active. Come form happy hearts and lungs with us by building endurance, stamina, and strength. Jumping: Blast off to test your flying skills! Get off the ground with long jumps, high jumps, triple long jump, and much more. Learn simple techniques that will make a huge difference in jumping performance from the runway into the sand pit. Throwing: You have the power! Test your Strength. Throwing is a fun way to improve upper and lower body strength. Cactus Petes Saloon was the coolest place in town, but now its the home of the biggest brawl in the desert. Tumbleweeds blow, shots are fired, and the Stagecoach gang is riding into town. Strap on your cowboy boots and warm up your vocal chords, cause this week will be full of singing, dancing, and shoot-outs. Perfect for the young singer/dancer whos got a knack for causing trouble AND saving the day. A trip to Cactus Petes is impossible to forget.
