Teen North African Music, Dance and Culture Camp - Nampa, ID
Travel to Northern Africa and the Middle-East, without the motion sickness or expensive flight. Learn about the music, dance and culture of the area of the world where Africa meets the Orient. It's a whole new world of music and dance! If you only have a Western Music Education, you are missing out on over three fourths of the world's music! Students will attend from 1:00 pm to 4:00 pm on Tuesday and Thursday, August 4th and 6th. Besides learning dance moves, students will make percussive instruments and learn to play several N. African Rhythms. Students will learn about the music and culture of this area of the world through music, dance, video, food and art. On Saturday, August 8th, students will have the opportunity to join 1 World Dance in a performance!

We will draw inspiration for our creations from children’s stories as we combine art, storytelling and play in this unique class offering. What I Really Want to do is Paint! (Ages 4-7) Miss Ashley will work with students to develop basic painting skills and a love for painting, along with concepts like the color wheel, line, texture and value in this foundational painting class perfect for our youngest artists. This class is designed to help prepare students for future art classes and to give them hands-on experience with paint media and tools while having a blast squishing, squirting and smushing paint onto canvas. Choose this team oriented engineering challenge to make a new planktonic dispersal design, fabricate a super sand structure, create new model buildings built on stilts, and use biomimicry to engineer your own new invention. Theme 3: Energy and Sustainability [Urban Infrastructure] - Wow Science - Voorhees
In this theme, campers will explore how people use and work with energy as they develop and apply concepts of energy sources, energy receivers, energy transfer, energy chains, and energy storage. Specifically, we will conduct projects and experiments under the following topics: sun angle versus heating effect, how we measure energy, a Rube Goldberg energy chain, hydropower, an electric circuit, storing energy up a hill, energy trapped in the earth, model waterwheel, embodied energy, lowering environmental impact, and the greenhouse effect. Under the topic of sustainability, campers will examine the importance of the environmental sustainability of systems and activities related to urban infrastructure. Specifically, they will explore the following topics this summer: planning a sustainable community, solar water heater, solar lamp, evaluating runoff in their neighborhood, local natural hazards, model a biogas collector, build a composting system, and conduct a sustainability audit. Of course topics and associated activities will vary based on camp cohort – junior, main, or teen camp. Wright Denny Day Camp - Jefferson County Parks and Recreation Commission
Spend your summer vacation with us! Wright Denny Day Camp offers 2 trips to the Jefferson Memorial pool per week and weekly themed crafts and activities. T-shirt is included in camp price. Camp hours are 8:00am-4:00pm. Cost for camp is $95 per week (4th of July week is $76).Full payment is due at time of registration.
