Radical Reptiles & Animals with John Taibe (AGES 5-10) Join John Taibe from Radical Reptiles and Friends as he introduces the children to a unique menagerie of live animals including snakes, frogs, turtles, tortoises, lizards, bugs and other creepy crawlies. As the children explore the animal kingdom, they will have a unique, hands-on experience enhanced by art, games and various projects related to these creatures. Kids will be up and about moving too! Join the Master Gardeners of Cumberland County for their first-ever Teen Summer Garden Camp on two Mondays, June 20 and June 27, 2016, from 9:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. Held at the Penn State Extension Office in Carlisle and the Southeast Agricultural Research and Extension Center (SEAREC) in Manheim, PA, this fun-filled camp offers teens ages 13-15, or in grades 7-9, the ability to explore and discover the “behind-the-scenes” of a garden. The first camp session on June 20 offers teens the opportunity to delve deeper into horticulture topics and engage in hands-on learning about the scientific method, photosynthesis, chromatography, soils, microscope skills, and plant identification. Teens will also build their very own gourd birdhouse. Come prepared for plenty of exploration, observations, activities and discussions! Want to see Milwaukee and surrounding areas from a different perspective? Spend a week canoeing and kayaking the many waterways in and around Milwaukee. But not all recipes are edible! The children will make lots of fun putties and slimes too! From growing yeast to building a radio out of a fruit to baking the yummiest science of all! The children will learn that their kitchen is filled with wonderful products that create some very explosive, gooey, slimy, fun and delicious science! We will build some unique items with basic things from our kitchen, make silly putty, arctic slime, and even play dough with your own scented design. Students build a sandcastle without ever stepping foot on the beach! They also change the properties of chocolate to make their very own chocolate bars! With some basic scientific knowledge, your child will learn to build a battery out of a pickle! Have your child join us for an educational experience that isnt just delicious, its also fun!
