Robots aren’t just inventions in a galaxy far, far away— they exist here on Earth, at your local library! Join us this Winter Break for a Star Wars-themed robotics camp. Each day we’ll watch a clip from the movies, and build a LEGO robot inspired by the film. The library will be hosting two four-day camps—attending all four days is not mandatory, but each class will build upon the previous classes. No prior experience in LEGO robotics necessary, but seating is limited so RSVP is required. Kids Play in the Clay (Ages 5-8) - Peninsula Fine Arts Center
Beginning students will learn basic skills involved with handbuilding in clay. This includes coil and slab built work, and basic sculpting techniques will also be covered as needed. All students will explore adding color using our selection of under glazes and colorful studio glazes. Tuition includes clay, glazes and firing fees. Class will meet: 01/17, 01/24, 02/07, and 02/14. July All Skills Camp - Commuter - Kirwin/Blanding Complex
This three-day comprehensive camp focuses on challenging each camper to take their game to the next level. Campers will be divided by skill and work with the coaches to enhance their knowledge of the game and improve their skill set. Serving, passing, attacking, defense, blocking, setting, team transition and team competition will be taught throughout the camp. This camp is designed for those entering the 6-12th grades. Space is limited so register early. Deposit is due at the time of online registration with the remaining balance due on or before the first day of camp. Additional check-in information will be attached to your confirmation email after registering online. There is a $50 processing fee for cancellations. Camp will be held at the Seaton Center, Memorial Coliseum, Joe Craft Center and additional UK facilities. Birdie Bombers (Ages 5-9) - Whitetail Ridge Golf Club
Do your children love to: play games, run around, jump obstacles, roll down hills, make friends, and have FUN? Do you think they would love to do all that, while they learn how to GOLF?! The answer is, undeniably, YES! Birdie Bombers Program will introduce FUN golf related exercises and activities to our existing golf instruction! We will spend roughly 30 minutes on basic instruction, along side 30 minutes of FUN activities and exercises! All of our youth baseball, basketball, football, tennis, and swimming camps have been implementing FUN activities to build strength, speed, endurance, and hand eye coordination. Years of research has taught us how important Fitness and Nutrition is to the golf swing. The balance learned from walking across a balance beam relates directly to the balance required for a great golf swing. The speed and weight transfer involved with swinging a golf club can be improved by throwing a ball as far as they can. Simply rolling down a hill will teach them body control and rotation which is directly related to the golf swing.
