This picturesque camp is quietly located between the Chugach Mountains and the Cook Inlet. It has been welcoming campers since 1961. My 10 year old son loves any outdoor activities. This camp is perfect for him. The non-judgmental philosophy of the camp makes it a place where children and teens can grow. Learn the Royal Game the fun way! At Chess Camp, every hour is informative, and yet avoids the dryness of rote instruction. We provide boys with interactive lessons, individual matches, helpful principles, and much more than simply playing games for hours on end. Whether learning the game for the first time or looking to master it, boys ages 6-13 can enjoy the Game of Kings and all of its auxiliary benefits, including logic, prudence, patience, forethought, evaluation, and analytical skills. Most importantly, all activities will take place in a fun and enjoyable environment under thoughtful and cheerful instruction. Far from sitting in front of a chess board all day, the campers will also enjoy some sports and integrated activities. Come enjoy one of the oldest and greatest games with friends and fun. This two week, high-energy camp is for children who love drama and the arts and who are looking to build their creativity, confidence, self-esteem and leadership skills through the performing arts. The two-week camp concludes with ?An Evening of Entertainment" featuring a performance put on by the campers. Participants will learn about the many components of theater production, from costumes and makeup to set design and blocking. This camp meets at the Hickory Lodge, 1115 W. Guided by our American Red Cross Certified Staff, this summer promises to be one adventure after the other.
