Elementary school youth within the autism spectrum. Activities for campers include coloring and painting, musical games, playground fun, swimming twice a week and local field trips. Quiet time, low lighting and sensory activities will be used as a transition from ESY to camp. Depending on skill levels, campers will be divided into two groups during some activities. To be successful, must be able to follow one/two step directions, ability to manage their behavior and be able to make simple choices. Campers must exhibit ability for self care with limited assistance with changing or prompting using bathroom. Staff ratio: 1 staff/4 participants. TRANSPORTATION : If attending ESY, contact your teens school to arrange transportation to camp. EXTREME ART! - Goleta Presbyterian Church
Take art to a new level! Whether you are an accomplished young artist or someone who thinks they cant do any art, we promise you are in for a hands-on 3 dimensional fun experience with wood burning, tie-dyeing with Indigo, printmaking, weaving and felting and that is truly EXTREME! We will teach you to use a special pyrography (wood burning) tool and to draw designs, patterns and texture into wood, leather and dried gourds. The ancient Greeks called it writing with fire. After the design is burned in, shading and coloring can be added. You will discover the art of printmaking, how to use a printing press, carve linoleum blocks into stamps, and create a masterpiece using natural items and a collagraph abstract print. Go back in time as you dye fibers using natural indigo and tie-die your camp t-shirt to the EXTREME! Create Native American inspired medicine pouches through a felting process and weave your own tapestry using card or hand looms from simple to complex. Come and develop your soccer skills with OSU Head Coach Colin Carmichael, OSU Associate Head Coach Justin Elkington and OSU assistant coach Ben Williams. Coach Carmichael is a four time Big 12 Coach of the Year and three time NSCAA Regional Coach of the Year. Coach Elkington was voted NSCAA Assistant Coach of the Year in 2011. Both coaches have attained their USSF A licenses and their NSCAA Premier Diplomas. The OSU staff will be assisted by local youth coaches and current OSU soccer team members. The cowgirls have won 5 Big 12 Championships and competed in 9 NCAA tournaments.
