We have as resources our Montessori-trained staff and classrooms, our 9 acre grounds with extensive gardens, the 600+ acre Powell Butte (10 minutes by foot), and our Columbia Gorge base camp at Bridal Veil. This unique camp will offer an incredible collection of projects and experiments that will amuse and amaze your little scientist! Through hands-on activities, children will explore the basic scientific ideas that play a role in everyday life. Sample projects include: Rocketry, Glowing Firefly, Edible Oceans, Marshmallow Catapults, Growing Radish Head, and Beeswax Candle. Although photography is the worlds newest art form, as a concept it was known by Aristotle. In this brief course we will review the evolution of photography from its beginnings to the digital cameras of today. Along the way, youll be introduced to some of the most influential individuals who played an important role leading to the creation of modern photography. We will discuss how painting influenced photography and how photography influenced painting. In just three sessions, well have a chance to see the oldest surviving photographs, Daguerreotypes, Silver Nitrate prints, early color photographs, modern pixel- based images and much more.
