This camp is all about moving around to make art. Well make paintings, prints, and drawings and each one will be rolled, smashed, stomped, dripped, thrown, sprayed, or melted. Perfect for those campers who want to make art with their whole body, move around, and be spontaneous. What is it about wax that appeals to our senses of touch, taste, sight and smell? Beeswax. Paraffin. Soy wax. Gel wax. In this camp you will learn how to work with wax as a creative medium that is as versatile as clay or metal. You will also explore how wax is made and how the very different chemical and physical properties influence what it is best used for! Campers will create their own candles, practice wax resist techniques and will even learn the age-old craft of encaustic painting (using melted wax as paint).
