This 4 week workshop will focus on making bags and purses using a resist method of wet felting. For many, felt is a crafting material sold in squares made out of some mish-mosh of synthetic fibers. Felting is actually extremely natural and is one of the most ancient art forms in mankinds history. It is still a widely used method which can create anything from clothing to toys and even houses. In this class, students will learn the basic process of wet felting which creates wool fabric by layering raw wool fibers, adding warm soapy water and a little elbow grease. This is an inter-generational class. The felting process is simple but can be very versatile which makes it a great opportunity for parents and children to work together side by side. Since the Dallas Harvest Festival has been cancelled, we have moved our annual Craft Fair fundraiser to that Saturday, (Sept. 19th) cause folks like YOU will be looking for something else to do. Additionally we will be expanding to include a Flea Market! Come shop at the Craft Fair for gifts, home decor, handcrafted jewelry, wood crafts, and more. This year's event includes a flea market, bake sale, and a chili cook-off. The Snackshop will be open with some delicious lunch & dinner specials including our famous APPLE DUMPLINGS!-Get 'em while they last! Proceeds will benefit students attending Student Life Camp and/or the Fall Leadership Retreat.

Some fairy tales explored this week include The Three Little Pigs, Jack and the Beanstalk, and The Frog Prince. The original versions will read and discussed. We will take a look at todays childrens literature and how fairy tales have changed through the years… often in funny ways. We will explore different versions of tales from different cultures.
