What to Avoid Packing for Summer Camp?
Summer camp is a great chance for kids to stay active and meet new friends. Thus, children are usually asked to leave values at home, including electronics. Camp life includes a lot of activity and it would be easy for iPods, gaming consoles, and other items to be lost or damaged. Instead of staying plugged in, camp is a wonderful time for kids to detox from such items. Of course, if a child is going to a technology program, a laptop might be acceptable.
To keep everyone safe, fireworks, weapons, and illegal drugs and other items need to stay home....

Assalamu alaikum future campers. Insha'Allah on Memorial Day weekend we will be hosting our 9th Annual Youth Camp in Big Bear! The campsite is new, and we're sure that each of you will love everything about it. We've got great speakers lined up for the weekend, fun activities, and amazing counselors that are sure to make your experience memorable! Tickets are going to be made available on April 4th at 9 pm. Please note that we have limited spots that usually sell out within a day or two. Registration is $170, and you must be at least 14 & a freshman in high school. We're looking forward to an exciting weekend with all of you!

KID'S BEGINNER SEWING ART CAMP June 15 - 17 @10am - 2pm Ages: 12-16 This is not just an ordinary "learn to sew" camp. Our students will design and create their own fabric using surface design techniques. They will learn how to use a sewing machine and also, basic sewing skills. With their new found skills they will sew a super cool backpack and pillowcase. Lots of paint, screens and unique personal designs will abound. The students will have fun experimenting with stamps, screens and printmaking to create their fabric art! We encourage our students to be Fearless and unique!!! All supplies included. Taught by Sandy Gillespie: Fiber Artist, Baker and Crafter We have sewing machines, but it's best for your child to learn on their own machine if you have one...otherwise, no worries! Bring your iPhones or iPads (if you have them) for recording. Well have a rockin performance on the last day with some guest pro musicians that will give you a chance to show off your new found chops! Folk Art Around The World with Nellie Shevelkina Go Global! Learn about different cultures through their arts. We will travel from Africa to the Americas, Europe to Asia, Australia and in between discovering traditional folk arts from around the world. Explore the history, techniques, and special meanings of various crafts while noticing similarities and differences in their designs, patterns, and styles. We will create mosaics, painted and printed fabrics, sand paintings, mask making, paper maché figurines, paper cutouts, clay whistles, just to name a few. Students are encouraged to research their own cultural and ethnic backgrounds and proudly share these artistic traditions with the class. Fun with Metal with Connie Pfeiffer Make jewelry and mini-sculpture with copper sheet metal and wire to wear or hang. Stamp, fold, hammer, bend, cut, twist and even heat metal to create pendants, medallions and forms from nature such as pea pods and leaves. Students will explore using basic hand tools, especially hammers, mallets, cutters, files, pliers and torches (one-on-one with instructor) to create works in metal.
