Canyon Creek is just about an hour’s drive outside LA and I’m really glad we took our kids. They learned a lot about several different sports and seemed to be really excited when we picked them up. It is near a large lake and is a beautiful area. The camp was huge and had many sporting facilities. All of the equipment seemed to be new and the camp counselors were great with the kids. 1:15- 3:15 each day, Monday July 18th through Thursday 21st. This kid's camp is a colorful mix of hooping, dance, play, movement and yoga designed to support physical fitness, encourage ecstatic expression and nurture self-esteem. During camp, students will have the opportunity to share what they have learned through dance, play, performance and hoop games. This unique fun fitness program enhances total body awareness, hand–eye coordination, increased flexibility and core strength. From the Page to the Stage - The Evergreen School
Love to read stories and act them out? Books are adapted for the stage in this fun, creative drama class. Each day is filled with activities in creating a character, writing dialogue, and staging a scene. Ideal for writers, actors and storytellers! On the last day, students share their collaborative story with family and friends. 206-957-1533
Week 2: Design/Build for Social Impact - REALM Charter High School
Monday - Friday, 9am - 4pm Pick-up begins: 8:45am Drop-off ends: 4:15pm Girls will design and build furniture projects for the Womens Daytime Drop-In Center, a local safe haven which offers free services to homeless women and their children. Along the way, girls will learn skills in woodworking, welding, fabrication, and masonry to design a meaningful project for their community, to work in multiple materials, and bring ideas to life. Please note: Week 1 and 2 will offer the same content. Please enroll in only one. Snacks will be provided. Full lunch option is available at an additional $25 cost. Enrollment is limited to 20 girls. Ever wonder why a pedestrian is someone who travels by foot but a pediatrician is a childrens doctor? Knowing that pedestrian is from the Latin word pedes (foot) and pediatrician is from the Greek word pedia (child) will help you not only keep these common words straight, but also decipher more obscure words derived from the same roots. 65 percent of English comes from Greek and Latin. A solid foundation in the Greek and Latin roots of English provides skills to decode a word, often without looking it up. Not curious yet? Did you know that the prefix dis is from Latin meaning apart or away from, while the prefix dys is from Greek meaning bad? The prefix ante is Latin for before; anti is Greek for against. This class will provide you with the tools needed to boost your English vocabulary, avoid many common errors and raise your scores on the English and Reading portions of the SAT and ACT exams. Many of the class activities parallel typical questions on the exams, allowing for immediate application of these invaluable skills. Under the expert instruction of Courcy Magnus and the talented Obvious Choice coaching team, Basketball Club participants will hone essential skills, such as shooting, passing, dribbling and defense.
