LATEST CAMPS NEWS: Teen Adventure Camp - Sequoia Highlands
Teen Adventure Camp starts at 9 a.m. on June 27 at Sequoia Highlands, which is a large camp built around 1970. There is a large kitchen and dining room and a big recreation room with pool tables, pingpong and darts as well as other activities. The accommodations are in long dorms with army cot bunks, one dorm for girls, one for boys. The view of the valley is spectacular, and the charm of this camp is that it is rustic, has lots of room and is close to Kings Canyon National Park. We take trips on Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday to lakes, rivers, caves and mountains up in the parks, hiking & swimming & exploring the area. We will also learn about the ecology of the area and how climate change is affecting the Parks and the central valley. While at camp we will tie-dye our camp shirts, create our own videos, fish if the pond is full, and simply hang out and enjoy each others company. Campfires are planned for the evenings after dinner. Emphasis is on teamwork and building community. 559-336-9362

Teen week was so much fun during 2016, we have added it again for 2017. This is a special session only for those 13 and older. Space will be limited and run at a lower number of campers than traditional sessions. This week will focus on activities designed for older campers. At YMCA Camp Carter Overnight Camp, campers live, play and build deep bonds with their peers. Campers must rely on the others in their cabin groups to share daily responsibilities. Teen Week Overnight Camp, runs from Sunday afternoon until Friday evening and includes 15 meals and overnight accommodations in a fully climate controlled cabin with lots of supervision by our well trained staff.

For 2-5 year olds, this weekly class combines creative movement with story time! Its a fun learning experience that builds language acquisition, developmental movement, conceptual understanding, personal expression, social skills, and creative problem solving. We will use our bodies with assistance from our expanding imaginations to move through stories to reinforce verbal literacy through the young childs strong kinesthetic intelligence. This cooking camp is a fun and exciting way to spend summer. There will be two sessions: Session 1- June 22nd - July 3rd and Session 2 - July 6th - July 17th. Cooking Camp will be held at The Silver Spring International Middle School on Wayne Avenue from Monday through Friday, 9.30am - 1.30 pm. All students from grades 4-9 are welcome to register and enjoy this memorable experience. In these 2 week sessions, students will get started with the basics of cooking and gradually increase to more advanced skills.
