Fencing captures the imagination of kids of all ages, but it requires a trained, experienced instructor to learn safely and correctly. The Young Scholars Fencing Program is being run by the coaches of the Central PA Fencing Association. Coach Wes Glon, the Head Coach of the PSU Fencing Team personally trains and hires the coaches for this program. Coach Chuck has 40 years of fencing experience and has been part of the CPFA programs since 2006. Your child will learn the basics of sabre fencing with an emphasis on sportsmanship, safety and history. We make the learning experience fun and rewarding for the students. /GOALS: Month 1: - Fencing History: Olympic sport since the first Olympics in 1896, difference between Saber, Epee & Foil, French sport - Safety rules (fencing is one of the safest sport) - Basic footwork: advance (movement forward), retreat (movement backward) & lunge (movement to reach) focusing on the balance - Description of the Saber, parts of the weapon, how to hold it. - Footwork, coordination games Month 2: - Introduction to the gear: glove, mask, jacket & saber - Target area: 3 different area to cut: mask, flank & chest - How to cut using... 8142379727.0

Instructor: One on One Basketball () Room: Blacktop After School Hoops® is a weekday afternoon basketball program for aspiring young players. The one hour instructional sessions combine fundamental skills instruction with organized team competition with the goal of providing an enjoyable and educational after school athletic event. Developing players benefit by improving their individual skills such as passing, dribbling, shooting, rebounding, and defending while, at the same time, learning how to work within the framework of a team. Boys and girls of all skill levels are encouraged to join. One of the many merits of After School Hoops® is that it provides school children with an organized after school event at which they can learn, socialize, and most of all, have fun. Parents and teachers often express concern that idle and unsupervised after school hours provide too many negative temptations for their children.
