Your teen will learn safety around horses, grooming, daily care of horses, saddling, horse language, how to work with a horse on the ground, riding skills, maneuvering obstacles, and much more. They will then put these skills learned into practice by caring for their assigned horse daily while at camp. Each teen will receive one on one time with their assigned horse and instructor. They will learn through class time and hands on time. Each teen will be evaluated and taught to their current level of riding, beginners to advanced will learn new skills to aid each of them.  We ask that each teen wear long pants and shoes with a heal for riding. We also ask that each teen bring along with them a packed lunch each day; fridge and microwave available. This is one of our most challenging trips. Journey with your comrades into the High Peaks of the Adirondacks. Our new route for 2016 will take you up and over more of the fabled "High Peaks." Elementary school youth within the autism spectrum. Activities for campers include coloring and painting, musical games, playground fun, swimming twice a week and local field trips. Quiet time, low lighting and sensory activities will be used as a transition from ESY to camp. Depending on skill levels, campers will be divided into two groups during some activities. To be successful, must be able to follow one/two step directions, ability to manage their behavior and be able to make simple choices. Campers must exhibit ability for self care with limited assistance with changing or prompting using bathroom. Staff ratio: 1 staff/4 participants. Its all about color and imagination this session, which will explore artwork by famous Modern and Post Modern masters like Henri Matisse, Paul Gauguin and Pablo Picasso. These artists experimented with depicting the world using fantastic colors, and a bold and expressive style of brushwork. We will experience color in a whole new way while working in fine art materials, found objects, collage, printmaking, and more! Campers will be inspired to create their own wild and wonderful masterpieces.
