Ages: Girls and Boys Entering Grades 7 - 9 Dates: June 27 – July 1 Time: 9:00 am - 4:00 pm Format: One-week session designed around challenging activities Location: Laurels Lyman Campus in Shaker Heights Tuition: $360/session Cabinets of curiosity, also known as wonder rooms, were collections of extraordinary objects used to categorize the world and tell stories about its oddities. In this class, we will create a wonder room by investigating several of the many ways in which science and art intersect. By highlighting the overlap between art and science, we will gain a better understanding of each, as well as a new appreciation for how art can play a role in scientific processes and how science can inform and facilitate the creation of visual art. Topics of exploration may include: • Gyotaku/fish printing • Biological illustration • Kinetic sculpture • Cyanotyping/solar prints • The golden ratio and biomimicry • Using bacteria as paint • Nature journaling and the history of collecting 216-455-0154

Come join NESS to learn about the fantastic sport of fly fishing. Saltwater fly fishing is used to target a variety of species available depending on the season. Striped bass and bluefish are local all summer, with the occasional transient like banded rudder fish and jack crevalle. Learn saltwater specific fly fishing techniques to fish your local waters. Gain experience in casting, tackle and fly selection, rigging, fish fighting and proper release techniques. This activity demands specific methods and large areas of space so enrollment is limited. Students should bring their own fishing rods and tackle ready for use. Some NESS rods are available and bait will be provided, please call to inquire. ART- MOVIE STAR CAMP (AGE 8-15) Experience the excitement of starring in your own movie! Students learn how to act for the camera by one of our experienced directors who has worked for Disney and Nickelodeon studios, receive a starring role in their own short movie, then walk the red carpet at our annual movie premiere on September 13th. Students will be introduced to Tennis using the Quickstart method of instruction (when appropriate, based on skill level). Learning the fundamentals of the game, scoring and sportsmanship are integral parts of the class. Each child should bring a racket and water bottle with them to each class.
