LATEST CAMPS NEWS: Owlet Camp I - Rice University
The half day camp is designed for the younger players. It is open to any and all boys and girls ages 4-6. Each player will receive an official Rice Soccer Ball and an official Rice Soccer Camp T-shirt at the end of the week. Campers will begin each day with dynamic warm up exercises to loosen up and get ready for the day. This will be followed by the technical portion of the session, focusing on ball control, passing and shooting. The day will conclude with small sided fun games where campers will have the opportunity to utilize skills learned earlier in the day. The Owlet Camp runs from 9:00 a.m.- 11:30 a.m. Registration begins at 8:00 a.m. each Monday of camp. Cost of camp: $265 713-348-6955

There are many things we have to survive in this world. Failures, conflicts, temptations, the list goes on. Though surviving the pressures and conflicts in our lives can be a tough and painful process, we can take comfort in the fact that like a piece of coal, we are being turned into precious diamonds for God's purpose. And in a culture that increasingly pushes Christians to the outskirts, it can be like being stranded on an island. But since the begining us Christians have been called to be set apart, "in the world but not of the world", and we know that through the power of the Holy Spirit and the Word of God, that we can more than just meely survive, but we can strive! Join us this year in taking a stand on the principles and truths that the Word of God gives us, stepping up to live out our calling and purpose and learning how to transition from being Survivors to becomeing more than conquerors!! Campers will go on a journey throughout a variety of American cultures and civilizations, learning about their daily lives, legends and stories, and art forms. Visits to MAMs newly installed Native American collection will be included to provide a closer look and inspiration. Travel from the prehistoric to the present in this whimsical tour throughout time. Sport Foundations Summer Basketball Camp - Fields/Diamonds/Gym/Courts
Sport Foundations Basketball Skills Academy one day camps are designed to teach and develop basketball skills, including fundamentals of shooting, ball handling, passing, rebounding and defense. Often times with AAU and travel basketball the focus of practice is more on "game play and plays". Developing great shooting technique is becoming a lost art. Footwork and ball handling is underdeveloped at the High School level. The fundamentals of basketball will be taught and then reinforced with a series of drills. The following offensive series will be taught and drilled: shooting, basket attack, low post moves, high post moves, ball handling, rebounding and defense. Sport Foundations will use recent research on focus of attention to create muscle memory responses that hold up to psychological and physical stress that occur in competition. The performance of basketball skills are based on motor learning and skill, not just repetition. This camp is for players who have had some basketball experience. Enjoy the visit of a real Broadway artist who will assist in class and answer your questions. In this class you are introduced to all the fundamental skills of improvising, while improving your ability to listen and explore the power of building off of other peoples ideas. Level 1 is a survey of the entire program, exposing you to the elements of scene work and the various skills involved in creating well-acted, comedic improvisation. Passing Criteria: Students must demonstrate that their listening has improved over the course of the term and that they are willing to build off of their partners ideas, in addition to having gained some proficiency with the technical aspects of actually doing so on stage.
