Television writer and iO West instructor Ed Lee will discuss how television episodes - including pilots - are structured, and how you can apply it to your writing so your television scripts can have the best possible impact on your audience. Ed Lee has written for several TV shows including Norm, "The Drew Carey Show, Class of 3000, and "Are You There, Chelsea?", and has worked in punch-up rooms for many sitcom pilots. Clover Kids will do some fun projects from the “A Space for Me” 4-H Project! July 5, 2016 9:30 - 11:30 OR 1:30-3:30 pm Learn how to make your space your very own! February Visit & Info Session - Wheatley Heights, NY
A Usdan Visit and Information Session is an excellent way to learn about our many summer programs and what makes them both fun and educational. We begin with a guided walk through campus, introducing the music, art, dance, theater, writing, chess, nature and recreation departments. Our administrative leadership will share a few ideas about what shapes the Usdan program, from where we draw our inspiration, and what makes a summer at Usdan unlike any other. We will explain the enrollment process, and you will be given a chance to talk in small groups, or individually, with our knowledgeable team of arts faculty and staff members. We end the visit with a self-guided walk and exploration of the grounds. Pirate Adventure - Wednesday Camp 4-27-16 - PS87 Afterschool Program
Join us as we take to the seas on this thrilling pirate adventure with the Jersey Shore Pirates. Children will be dressed up as a crew of swashbuckling buccaneers, search for hidden treasure, and defend their ship against enemy pirates. Kids will be transported from PS 87 to Jersey Shore Pirates by private school bus, departing at 9 a.m., and returning to PS 87 via school bus by 5 p.m. *In case of inclement weather, we will take the children to Jenkinsons Aquarium in Point Pleasant, New Jersey for a private tour.

Audition-Only College Level Teen Acting Intensive with Special Guest Instructors - Arts Effect Downtown
** PLEASE NOTE: You must audition and be accepted into this class BEFORE you register. This college-level acting workshop lead by Katie Cappiello and Meg McInerney along with Tisch School of The Arts faculty guests will focus on intense scene study and character development. Students will be challenged by advanced sense memory, improvisation, and text analysis exercises as they prepare scenes to be presented at the end of the workshop. Students will be assigned and emailed a scene prior to the workshop. This 5-day master class will require students to not only work in class on their pieces but also independently with scene partners outside of class – as they would in any theater arts college program.
