Camp Sewataro, established in 1960, began with 25 campers. Today it has grown to over 600 campers, one of which is my teenage daughter. As an only child, she has blossomed at this camp. Many of us have gone to church camp when we were in the youth group, but once we moved on to adulthood, most of us found that there are few places for people of our age to go to where we can get quality time with God away from our busy lives. The Young Adult retreat was designed to deal with that dilemma. This is an incredible, inexpensive opportunity for young professionals to get away for a weekend filled with God's word, fellowship, worship and fun. Little Aquanauts (Week 4 PM) - Wildlife Detectives - NESS
Follow clues to find the wildlife suspect of each day. Use microscopes, document cameras, and magnifying glasses as you journey to the NESS aquariums, tide pools, the shoreline, and into the Harbor on a boat. Perform a crab dissection and venture to new habitats by kayak, foot, and snorkel. Includes: 1 boat trip on the Dodsons Launch 860-535-9362
Singing for Musical Theatre – Ensemble Performance - The Little Theatre of Alexandria
No class on Feb. 14. This course is designed for singers at any level (grades 2nd - 9th). Students will learn the basics of vocal technique for proper singing, including voice placement and production, breathing, and phrasing. Students will receive guidance in finding their voice type and category. They will also work on presenting songs – learning how to make a song come alive by not just singing it, but interpreting and performing it. This semesters in-class concentration will be on musical theatre chorus/ensemble numbers. Students will work on singing together, and will be taught not just melodies, but also how to sing harmonies and various vocal parts. (An ability to sing harmonies and to sing with others is an essential part of musical theatre performance.) Some of the songs will also include basic movement/staging, and the music and movement that is learned will be presented/ performed in a musical revue format. Students will perform on the LTA stage in the Spring Showcase on April 1st and 2nd! (Students who wish to participate in the Showcase must be available for rehearsals during the early evening hours the week of March 28th.) Camp open to boys and girls entering grades 3 - 8 Instructor: Ryan Robinson, Amy Mc Neil and Michelle Robinson Enjoy the experience of running on Waterfords acclaimed Cross Country course at Hess-Hathaway Park. Under the tutelage of veteran teachers/coaches, boys and girls will learn the joy of an exercise program revolving around cross country running can bring with a group of running companions. Camp will be structured to fully include beginners as well as experienced runners and will include elements suitable to all campers. Camp includes a t-shirt and refreshments.
