Session 4: Clues to Natures Past - Explorers - The Hitchcock Center for the Environment
CAMP Come find out what the Pioneer Valley was like millions of years ago! With day trips, crafts, songs and nature hikes, we will make connections between our local ecosystems of today and those of prehistoric times, including the animals, dinosaurs and plants that lived back then. We will learn the stories of the rocks around us, finding evidence of shifting plate tectonics, fossils, volcanoes, glaciers and the power of water. 4132566006.0

Week 4 AM - Taste of Optis - NESS
Its never too early to get on the water! The Taste of Optis class is designed for kids aged 6-11 and does not require sailing experience. Meant to be a fun group experience, it enables kids to get a taste of sailing in one week of instruction. Students will become familiar with water safety on the docks and in an optimist trainer, while learning what it feels like to be on the water. Over the week the students will be introduced to the different parts of the boat, knots, rigging and steering. One step at a time this is an important one to take in a nurturing environment with friendly and patient instructors. 860-535-9362

Minecraft Programming Using LUA Using a custom mod called Computercraft, students will learn how to program robots called Turtles inside the world of Minecraft. Kids will utilize problem-solving skills by learning how to program their robots to complete various tasks such as programming their turtles to automatically build, mine, and craft items and structures. They will be introduced to programming if-then-else statements, for-while loops, and implement their own functions using LUA, a simple scripting language. THURS : PreK & Kindergarten Program - The Story of King Midas - The Philadelphia School
Join us for a fun-filled day experiencing an interactive storytelling adventure about the myth of King Midas! Each student will decorate a golden mask and participate in recreating the story. Students will also learn about Turkey and the cultural traditions of the land where King Midas once ruled. We will also explore the rich and colorful patterns of Turkish tiles, and each student will design and decorate their own tile to take home. A mid-morning snack will be served. Choice indoor and outdoor activities will be offered, as well as a walk to Taney Park, weather permitting. Please pack a lunch (including a beverage) in a disposable bag. For the safety of our students, please DO NOT INCLUDE PEANUT BUTTER or any nuts in your childs lunch. The program will run from 9:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m., with drop-off available in the yard beginning at 8:00 a.m. (at no extra charge). **Extended day is available from 3:00 p.m. - 5:30 p.m. for an additional $20. While Thomas Edison said invention is 10% inspiration and 90% perspiration, this camp is 100% FUN! Children will overcome a series of challenges using basic materials, simple machines, tips from famous inventors and most importantly - their mind! With a little bit of ingenuity children will create catapults and forts, construct working light sticks to take home and assemble a set of circuits with batteries and light bulbs.
