The Dance Academy Designed to serve the needs of the committed and focused student, 4 to 18 years old, who is seeking to expand their dance vocabulary and dramatically improve their technique. The Academy is calling you! With an emphasis on Classical Ballet and Modern Dance, the Academy students follow a schedule designed by the directors that will also include, depending on level, Tap, Jazz, Hip Hop and African Dance. Voice, and Art classes are also offered in rotation. Multi-day training and a comprehensive vocabulary are necessary for any artist to achieve success in the dance world. Compare this with the world of Sports: Kobe, LeBron, Jordan, and all of the Gods of Basketball train every day. We have also seen remarkable results in academic achievement as a result of the character education dance training instills. Young people of NCA learn to manage their time. Our experience with Camp Twin Creeks in Marlinton was awesome. When we got there to drop off the kids, we realized that the staff was so diverse in their nationalities that my kids would feel so welcome and fit right in. The staff seemed to be having as good of a time as the kids and my kids walked away with many new friendships. They are already talking about next summer and seeing their friends again. Max Lax Lacrosse - Wellington Gym
Max Lax is a co-educational sports camp that focuses on introducing children to the sport of lacrosse as well as other cooperative games. Your child will learn the basic skills of lacrosse and participate in different games, which will help with the development of those skills while also having fun. At camp your child will also play different team building and cooperative games such as capture the flag, water balloon team tag, lacrosse baseball, dodge ball and European handball. The campers will also have the opportunity to cool off from the summer sun on the camp favorite: Max Lax Mega Slip n Slide. The Preseason Faceoff Clinic will focus around the three fundamentals for youth to advanced level players; technique, repetition, and competition. The face-off clinic will teach the players how to hold the stick properly, feet/stance alignment, stick alignment, and primary/counter moves. Specific face-off drills and advanced skill work performed at the college and MLL level will also be incorporated throughout the clinic. The first day will focus mainly on face-off instruction and repetition. The second day will focus mainly on repetition and competition. This class is the perfect opportunity for students who know how to sail, who want to get out there, to simply go sailing. Students are introduced to more advanced sailing techniques, basic navigation and will work on improving their overall comfort with sailing around Stonington Harbor and Fishers Island Sound.
