Campers will make their very own spy toolkit and learn essential skills required for top notch espionage. Ms. Pleasance will be leading our youngest students to develop physically, social and emotionally, all while using their bodies. We will integrate stories, music, and yoga. Welcome to the world of Mining and Crafting. At this exciting camp your child will craft and create on a lap top computer. Throughout the week, your child will be given exciting building challenges in BOTH the creative and survival mode of MINECRAFT ® BEWARE OF CREEPERS!! Renaissance has hired some mining experts to help your child learn secrets and short cuts that can be taken home for use on their own MINECRAFT® games. A secure server will be provided for their use during this camp. We will focus on several advanced crafting skills such as red-stone wiring, advanced survival tactics and advanced gardening. Campers will participate in a horserace and become paleoentoligists digging for bones to construct a dinosaur. There are new challenges everyday and the excitement builds with each new challenge. Jump Start Lacrosse - Rotary Park
Boys and Girls in grades K-6 will learn to play the fastest growing sport in the United States! Lacrosse is action packed and lots of fun. It has the elements of soccer, football, basketball and hockey. Experienced coaches provided by Jump Start Sports lead the training on all the fundamentals, including: passing & catching, fielding ground balls, cradling, spacing, positioning and defense. Players will be divided by gender and age to play fun game situational scrimmages. Plastic sticks and soft balls will be provided. 5th - 9th grade girls: Biology Explorers - Saint Marys School
Biology Explorers is an exciting week of applied science for middle school grade girls. From microorganisms to the biosphere, campers learn about many of the questions, techniques, and equipment scientists use to study the different levels of life. Each morning, campers see demonstrations and perform experiments in the biology labs at Saint Marys School. In the afternoon, campers travel to a variety of local scientific points of interest to watch professional scientists at work. Past field trips have included the Phytotron and Solar House at NCSU, the Sharon Harris Plant, and the Duke Lemur Center. Katie Floyd is an Instructor of Science at Saint Marys School. Ms. Floyd earned her B.A. from Hollins College and her M. S. from Emory University. She taught for ten years at Wesleyan College in Macon, GA where, in addition to teaching 14 different courses, she taught the science component of Spectacles, a residential summer camp for middle school girls. Ms. Floyd has been teaching at Saint Marys for sixteen years and has served as the director of Biology Explorers for over ten years. 9194244028.0
