Great Outdoors Mini Camp June 27th-June 30th Its back to nature in this camp and we mean literally! If it has to do with nature and the great outdoors we are all over it! These days kids seem to be losing touch with nature, so in this camp we are going to bring them back to the wild side. Kids will leave civilization behind as we head out into the great unknown to learn all about nature and surviving the outdoors. Campers will get the ins and outs of navigating trails, compass use, telling time by the sun, identify animal tracks, interact daily with animals, make fossils, build a drift shelter, survival skills, make Native American crafts, outdoor cooking (more than just smores) and so much more. We are scheduling our Twenty-Second Constitution Boot Camp for Saturday, March 12th. The cost of the class will be a $20 donation per person with book set. Camp Shalom LIT - Session IIB - JCC Campus
The Camp Shalom LIT Program (formerly counselor in training) has been redesigned to allow teens a multifaceted experience. The program contains three core components: leadership training, hands-on counselor skills guidance, and fun, social programming. Each two-week session will provide teens the opportunity to experience every facet of working at a summer camp from interacting directly with campers to shadowing activity specialists. Under the supervision of the LIT Assistant Director, LITs will meet as a group regularly to attend workshops specially planned for them. Each LIT will have the opportunity to become CPR and First Aid Certified. Upon successful completion of the LIT Program, participants will receive a minimum of 45 community service hours and are eligible for a higher rate of pay as Assistant Counselors at Camp Shalom. 512-735-8100
Tennis with Coach Rock PK (Wednesday) - Janney Elementary School
Your childs first experience with tennis will be great fun-- Coach Joce- lyn Rock will be using slower-moving and lower-bouncing balls as well as using a smaller court size with lower net. Her goal is to help young children gain confidence in tennis faster and realize the joy of sports. We will work on hand-eye coordination, tennis strokes, and cooperative play. Kid vs. Wild week will feature challenges and adventures that test your skills in shelter building, fire making, navigation and more. *prorated 4-day week (no camp Monday, July 4) Campers will recieve a summer camp T-shirt. Charlottes Web - Main Cast Grades 4-8 - Barn Second Floor
THIS YEARS SPRING SHOW IS CHARLOTTES WEB! A Non-Musical - Based on the book by E.B. White. Directed by Kirsten Raymond Learn performance skills and grow as an actor while directly applying the new knowledge to a full production performance of Charlottes Web. Through rehearsals and theater games and exercises, students will hone skills in acting and movement in a supportive group environment. Charlottes Web auditions will take place on March 2nd at the HCA. 2nd -3rd graders should arrive for their audition at 5:15 pm. They should prepare a short poem of their choice or read one of the poems provided in the attachment. 4th - 8th graders do not have to schedule an appointment. Please arrive anytime between 5:45 pm - 6:15 pm. Auditioners will be seen one at a time in the order of their arrival. There are two attachments of audition material for this age group. Class meet: January 21, 28, February 4, 11, 25, March 3, 10, 17 No class February 18th Ready to learn the basics of making a film? This 7 week class will take students through the entire film making process, including screenwriting, story-boarding (pre-production planning), camera and sound work, and final editing (post-production). Students will work together as a production team to create a short film together. Students will also take home a DVD of the final product to view at home! All equipment provided.
