Ever notice that performers like Billy Joel and bands like Coldplay can use the piano to get 16,000 people up on their feet dancing? Join us and jazz up YOUR piano playing! You will learn just a few cool chords and scales in order to create melodies and improvisations, and will use a lead sheet as a means to play almost anything right from the first time you see it. Bring your iPhones or iPads (if you have them) for recording. Well have a rockin performance on the last day with some guest pro musicians that will give you a chance to show off your new found chops! Campers, ages 7-13, will explore the artist Vincent Van Gogh all week through paintings and other related activities. They will paint a 16x20 painting each day M-Th, and work on a 24-36 self portrait through the week. The week will end with an art show Friday evening from 5-6pm. Challenge yourself and build self-confidence with a focus on safety, skateboarding fundamentals, conditioning and technique. Each day is structured as skateboarding lessons, education, snack time, game time and play time. Helmets are required and safety pads are strongly recommended. Parents must sign waiver form with registration. This winter students will explore their creativity through art as a means of learning about the environment. Through sculpture, drawing, and artistic problem solving students will create their own unique projects. Using the materials found in the forest; students learn, play, experiment, and explore the world around them to create works of art that enhance the beauty of the natural world. Nature School- Session 5 - Chico Creek Nature Center
Nature School is a first learning experience in nature. It is a drop off program designed for Pre K, TK and Kindergartners. Young first graders may also enjoy this class. All children should be potty trained and ready for an experience away from their family. Our teachers are happy to help facilitate "goodbyes" as is often needed with this age. Children learn about nature, letters, numbers, colors and shapes through crafts, songs, games, animal visits and guided exploration of the park. The teacher is trained in and uses curriculum from Growing Up Wild that meets state standards in science, literacy, math, art and STEM. Each class has a different theme. For optimum learning a full year of participation is encouraged. Classes are broken into 6 Wednesday sessions. Limited to 16 students with a ratio of 1 teacher to 8 children. The program runs 11am to 2pm. We recommend your family joins us for Natures ABCs that is 10 to 11am to help in the drop off transition.
