Campers will learn a variety of cheers, jumps, kicks and movements. We?ll also play fun cheerleading games and decorate crazy uniforms to wear at an exhibition on the last day of camp. Cheerleading camp provide children a highly active endeavor in a non-competitive environment that fosters fun and the development of friendships. Join anytime during the week (fee will be pro-rated). Supplies: Campers should bring a snack and beverage and plenty of water each day. All campers should arrive at camp with sunscreen already applied, as well as with additional sunscreen, as needed. Albany Gems Summer Youth Dance Camp - Albany, OR
The Gems are hosting their 2nd Annual Summer Dance Camp on July 16-17th, 2016. This is a two day camp for 1st - 8th grade dancers of all abilty and skill levels. All classes will be held in the main facility at the Albany Boys and Girls Club. Both days will run from 8:00am - 3:00pm. This give LOTS of time for parents to get some stuff done while we entertain your kiddos! Classes will be split up by level and experience so that everyone is in a class they are comfortable with. Classes will be divided into Mini, Beginning, Intermediate, and Advanced. Class descriptions will be posted later in the comments. Dancers will stretch and warm up together, learn a entire camp dance, learn level appropriate dance routines, practice technical skills that apply to all dancers, and dancers will be given snack and lunch breaks both days. At the end of the second day (3:00pm) there will be a family and friends show so that your dancers can show you what they've been working on. We believe our Creator wants us to be joyfully creative! The primary goals of this camp are to encourage, nurture, and nourish each childs creative spirit. Daily Activities: In the mornings of each camp day, students will receive training in music and art. In each daily session they will learn something new that will build from the previous day. While in music class, students can explore keyboard, guitar, dance, and voice. Students will learn new concepts in music theory, use rhythm instruments, and participate in creative composition to begin the process of making music. In art class, students will experience textures, work with lighting and shading, and learn level of color. Arts students develop their fine motor skills. Each artist will create renderings that they will take home for years of enjoyment. Dance class is designed to introduce your child to the beginning movements of ballet, jazz and hip hop to inspire their interest in the creative beauty of dance. Students should be sure to wear comfortable clothing that doesnt restrict movement. Students will take a break between the morning and afternoon sessions and should bring their own sack lunch. In the morning, design beautifully detailed Star Wars® vehicles and power them with a LEGO® motor, battery pack and gears. Students experience the excitement of a motor - how this device can transform a stationary object into a moving one. Projects include the Millennium Falcon, Reys Landspeeder, R2D2, X-Wing fighter, and Snow-Speeder. Students construct the motorized projects, then customize the design, and play with and share ideas with other campers. Builders are sure to have the force with them in this camp! In the afternoon, students learn the principles of engineering including the use of beams, columns and trusses as they build with the KNEX® system. Well design a skyscraper and bridge and even build a motor-powered car to drive over the bridge. Other projects include amusement park rides such as a spinning swing and a ferris wheel.
