One Session ONLY! Monday – Friday, 1 to 4PM Class limit 20, minimum 8 Students need to bring paper and pens Minimum age: 13 $200 members, $225 non members Will we sing campfire songs? No. Will we write similes about the smell of a campfire, or lengthy descriptions of that one camp counselor who wears knee socks and a fanny pack? Perhaps. Join Kirsten Casey for five days of writing delight: creating poetry, characters, flash fiction pieces, and more. We will write everyday from 1-4 using a variety of prompts, strengthening our attention to detail, sharing our work, and eating candy. Kirsten Casey is a local California Poet in the Schools, who has been teaching creative writing to students in the area for over ten years. She earned her Masters in Creative Writing from San Francisco State, and you can find her work in the anthology Yuba Flows, and her own book of poetry, Ex Vivo: Out of the Living Body. As a teen, Kirsten kept a daily journal, wrote poetry and a play, and enjoyed quoting song lyrics. Craft Fair & Flea Market- Benefits Youth Missions Camp & Leadership Re
Since the Dallas Harvest Festival has been cancelled, we have moved our annual Craft Fair fundraiser to that Saturday, (Sept. 19th) cause folks like YOU will be looking for something else to do. Additionally we will be expanding to include a Flea Market! Come shop at the Craft Fair for gifts, home decor, handcrafted jewelry, wood crafts, and more. This year's event includes a flea market, bake sale, and a chili cook-off. The Snackshop will be open with some delicious lunch & dinner specials including our famous APPLE DUMPLINGS!-Get 'em while they last! SummerART Camp Full Day Studio Art Program 9:30am to 5pm Studio Art with Painting Studio Elective Session III: July 25 to August 5 Studio Art Camp Farm to Easel: Animals of the Northeast Celebrate the wonder of summer by exploring the animals and plants that live, blossom, and grow all around us. This session will explore our regions animals and plant life. From the farms to the forest, and birdhouses to beaches, we will be inspired by the colors, shapes, and sound of the flora and fauna that are local to our area. Weather permitting, campers will explore nature on MAMs grounds and at Van Vleck House and Gardens. We will create works of two and three dimensional art in a variety of media inspired by our observations and imaginations! Jr. Choir - Valle Verde Elementary
Classroom: E-2 Instructor: Rick Abbott (No class on March 31 or April 28. Final performance May 12th) This enrichment class is taught by Mr. Abbott. Jr. Choir is a performing choir for 2nd and 3rd graders. We are performing the choral concert STAR MAKER – the TV Show. The songs are delightful! Ive done this concert many times because the kids love the music. The students will perform in two concerts: a daytime assembly and a formal night concert in the MUR. For 3rd graders, there are opportunities, by audition, for solos, small group numbers, and narrator parts. Proper solo vocal technique, as well as ensemble vocal technique are taught. Make new friends; develop confidence while performing onstage for an audience. The songs are upbeat and lots of fun!
