Fossil Beach Field Trip - EcoAdventures
Fossil Beach Field Trip (Led by our very own Mei Len Sanchez Barr) June 29th 9am – 4pm $80 Are you ready to go Fossil Hunting? Join our team of fossil hunter enthusiasts, where we will go in our ECOADVENTURES Snake van to Matoaka Beach in St. Leonards. Put your skills to the test (and with a little luck), dig, unearth, and uncover, shark, crocodile, whale, skate and rays, and shells fossils from the Chesapeake Bay! Best part- is you get to keep what you find! Learn and participate in seining activities where we will look at the marine life and catch fish, eels, shrimp, crabs, and more! Have your team participate in a beach scavenger hunt. All this fun will make you hungry for a BBQ lunch with hot dogs, chips, and a drink while you relax in a gazebo overlooking the Chesapeake Bay. An apple a day keeps the doctor away? but how do you keep an entire community healthy and safe from terrorist attacks, deadly disease outbreaks, unsafe food and water, rabies, rats and other public health threats? Find out during Camp Public Health at Columbus Public Health. Campers will learn what it takes to protect community health in the 15th largest city in the country through hands-on activities with public health professionals including nurses, sanitarians, epidemiologists and doctors. They?ll also gain insight into active living features such as Art Walks, stream sampling, healthy foods and community gardens, as well as the use of Facebook, Twitter and YouTube to promote public health. Flexible drop off time between 7:15-9 am. Flexible pick up time between 4-6 pm. Breakfast and lunch provided. Campers will transported from Schiller Recreation Center to the Columbus Public Health Department for camp and then back to Schiller. -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Payment Information Payment by credit card is required at time of registration. Take a step into a whimsical world of creation and imagination when you enter Touchstones enchanted forest. You will embark on a journey between worlds, as we create beautiful art from nature. Whether you are painting with mud or building a collaborative sculpture, this week of wonder and intrigue is one you dont want to miss! Working outside and in the studio, individually and collaboratively, you will end this week with greater art making skills and a better understanding of our surrounding world. Emma Davidson earned her BFA from Savannah College of Art and Design (SCAD). Between 2012 and 2015, she was on staff at Touchstone Center for Crafts and worked as a teaching artist for various organizations in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. Currently, Emma is living Juneau, Alaska, where she is enjoying a year-long, dual art and teaching residency at the Canvas. Her artwork has exhibited in several states and are part of SCADs permanent collection. 724-329-1370
