Watch great movies and learn about critiquing films. Develop a sense for recognizing the thematic (the directors goal of the film), dramatic (storytelling elements) and stylistic aspects (genre) of a movie. Besides having fun at the movies and eating popcorn each week with your friends, you can share your insights and newly found skills of thoughtfully critiquing a film. Well usually take two after school sessions to watch one movie. Each Monday well watch half of a film and follow with a brief discussion, which includes identifying key characteristics and sharing what we thought worked well or not. You Can't Go Wrong With the Y
With a name like Camp Thunderbird, how could you go wrong? Our son had such a wonderful time. The pictures of his water skiing are the best! He was also very excited about the sailing lessons and has been going around the house tying everything into proper knots. Before we enrolled our boy we were given a complete tour of the grounds and had an opportunity to meet a lot of the staff. Everyone was friendly and professional. I knew our boy would be taken... The weather outside is frightful but the days are getting longer. Time to start thinking about Summer Camp. Join us for summer camps filled with fun filled days of horsemanship, games, crafts, and new friends. Campers will learn how to safely walk a horse, groom, tack, and wash a horse, horse anatomy, basic vet care, basic hoof care, riding fundamentals, horsemanship, and equitation. See the calendar of dates below. First come, first served. Deposit is required to hold your spot. Please call, email, or text for more information or registration form. Campers rotate by age group to different studio classes for drawing, painting, printmaking, ceramics, sculpture and mixed media. Daily enrichment activities may include entertainment, movement/dance, presentations and games that explore different cultures and forms of art. Parents are asked to provide a daily lunch, snacks and beverage for their children. A reception and art exhibition is held on the last Friday of camp.
