LATEST CAMPS NEWS: 2016 Winter Training Camp - University Club of Kentucky Golf Course
Are you looking for a way to work on your golf game during the long winter months? Now you can in UKs state-of-the-art indoor training center located at the University Club of Kentucky. Join Head Coach Brian Craig and Assistant Coach Ben Fuqua for our Winter Training Camp in the UK Golf House. Campers will enjoy eight three-hour training sessions on Thursday evenings beginning January 21 and running through March 31. Each session will consist of a 90 minute small group instruction with individualized training (max of 6 golfers per small group). Our coaching staff will focus on improving the golf game of each camper. The facility will also be available for use by the golfers for an additional 90 minutes on each date. Our facility has everything needed to effectively train the serious golfer, including indoor heated hitting bays and an extraordinary indoor short game area. The UK Golf House is also packed with the latest technology such as Trackman and SAM PuttLab. All of these features and technology are there for one purpose…TO MAKE YOU A BETTER GOLFER. My daughter and son thrived at this camp. They are both active children who would rather be outdoors than inside. They are also very social, which is why they loved the fact this camp draws campers from all over the world. Teen Sewing Camp - Snohomish, WA
Projects designed specifically for teens ages 13-17... learn about sewing, how to read patterns, how to use a sewing machine, different stitch options, etc. We will be making projects during the week (Monday-Thursday 10am-4pm) and then having a "showcase" party on Friday July 31st from 12-2pm to show off what the teens have made. ***Kids will need a sack lunch*** *** Sewing machines are available to rent if you don't have one... a $10 per day rental fee applies and we must know BEFORE the class starts if your child needs to rent a machine***

While some of these programs do provide valuable advice, most of them are filled with poor choices that, if followed, will get you injured or killed in a real emergency. Without proper training, separating the fact from fiction can be a difficult task. Our primary focus this week is to teach participants the practical skills that will save them in a true emergency. While a number of Traditional Skills will be introduced, our goal this week is to provide participants with a pragmatic skill set. For instance, spending five hours building a lean-to when it gets dark in 20 minutes is not a practical choice. Trying to build a bow-drill fire kit from scratch without a knife and without properly seasoned wood in the damp environment of the Pacific Northwest is rarely practical. Although those types of skills will be demonstrated, we will challenge you to perfect the basics first – like carrying a small fire steel and a couple of cotton balls...

Campers will immerse themselves in the natural world as they discover shelter building, map-making, plant identification and animal tracking. Daily storytelling and hiking will be sure to keep everyone active and engaged. With their own survival kit in hand, every camper will be eager to share their new knowledge of and appreciation for the outdoors. All campers will learn from science experts, play learning games, make projects, meet new friends, cool off in Sand Creek and have supervised exploration time.
