Guard Basics is the first of 3 programs under the Guard Development Series. Designed to help athletes develop the skills needed for a guard to be successful, both mentally and physically. Guard Basics will focus on Guard role and responsibilities, ball handling, passing, change of direction, bait and pass, shooting, etc. Each player will understand spacing, handling pressure and attacking the rim. Once players complete this program they will be able to enroll in the second program under the Guard Development Series - Playing the Position. Program consists of 6 - 1 hour sessions. Please join us for a week of serious Bible study. We are inviting men aged 18 and older to come and study God’s word together with us. The men who will present lessons are all devoted to the word of God and to teaching that word to others. The classes will be designed to be a particular help to those who are preachers and teachers but all are welcome to come. Each day we we will have six sessions with each speaker having about an hour to present. Each evening, our speakers will form a panel for a question and answer session. Our plan is to have everyone arrive on Monday evening in time for supper. Our studies will begin on Tuesday morning and go through Friday evening. We have enough room for everyone to stay overnight at the camp location. We will be providing meals and snacks throughout the week. To cover these expenses as well as utilities for the facility, we are charging a $75 fee.

July 25-28: Volcanoes Rock! (Ages 5-6) - Mountain Kids!
New Mexico is one of the best places on earth to see volcanic rock formations and many types of rocks. We will travel to see volcanic tuff and learn how it was formed by a two volcanic eruptions more than a million years ago. We will go to the Valles Caldera to see the source of the eruption and participate in a service project there on a long day trip. We will learn the three types of rocks, play games with rocks, sing rock songs and make some rockin art! 505-699-6230

MUSIC/CHORUS Branch Out into Music Singing and playing an instrument can be so much fun, but some students just dont know where to begin. This fun-filled class includes music basics, singing, and playing the recorder. From there, students may be able to branch out into playing another instrument, or learn to sing harmony in a choir. THE SCIENCE OF GARDENS Gardening, kids dig it. Each day of class will have a hands-on science and gardening theme. On the first day of class, we will learn about the basic needs of plants and students will plant seeds. On each subsequent day we will explore topics such as leaf adaptations, flowers & pollinators, fruit, seeds & seed dispersal, beneficial insects, garden art, and sustainable gardening. The camp is intended to teach players the fundamentals of lacrosse from A to Z. Players will be grouped according to their age and ability. They will receive both individual and team instruction. The USM staff is geared up to give the beginning player the skills necessary to compete, while challenging event he most advanced youngster. This camp will emphasize skill development and both individual and team concepts. Each player will receive special attention according to their individual needs. Our goal is to develop skills, team play and overall ability so that each player becomes more knowledgeable and better able to apply these concepts to game situations. The philosophy will be to improve through hard work, develop individual and team skills and to have a positive and fun experience.
