Ages: Girls and Boys Entering Grades 7 - 10 Dates: July 5 - 8 Time: 9:00 am - 4:00 pm Format: One-week session Location: Laurels Lyman Campus in Shaker Heights Tuition: $320/session From candles to cosmetics, colorful canvases to clothing, there are many wonderful ways we use wax to beautify and enrich our lives. What is it about wax that appeals to our senses of touch, taste, sight and smell? Beeswax. Paraffin. Soy wax. Gel wax. In this camp you will learn how to work with wax as a creative medium that is as versatile as clay or metal. You will also explore how wax is made and how the very different chemical and physical properties influence what it is best used for! Campers will create their own candles, practice wax resist techniques and will even learn the age-old craft of encaustic painting (using melted wax as paint). 8-Week Introduction to non-contact rugby for grades 3rd-5th! Non-contact rugby is a modified version of the traditional tackle version of the game and is an excellent way to introduce the sport to new or young players. This version of the game focuses on the fundamental skills of rugby which help develop basic motor skills and coordination, while also having a huge emphasis on having fun! Non-contact rugby is a safe, fun and all-inclusive game that boys and girls of all ages can participate in! The two-hour block will be one part homework help and one part rugby! (760) 712-3494

Join us as we take art to Tracy Aviary. We will meet on location and will set-up our drawing boards to sketch the birds and their habitats. We will use several mediums including: pencil, charcoal, pastel, watercolor, markers, and ink. This is a great time to learn new art techniques while spending time outdoors and seeing some amazing creatures. We will provide all the supplies as well as a VAI t-shirt for all students.
