Summer 5 Days of Knight Camp for Kids - Battle of Agincourt - Portland
Kids day camp for the week of Aug 22nd through Aug. 26th Ages 7 through 12 - or first grade and up. Camp runs Monday through Thursday- 9:30am to 3:30pm Children should pack a lunch or bring money to buy food at the Subway in our parking lot. Before and after care are available for an additional fee - see below. Camp must be pre-registered. There are no refunds however arrangements can be made to transfer registration to a different child. Our program is focused on teaching historical arts connected to the martial culture of Europe in the time of the crusades and beyond to the 16th century. We teach history and real world skills related to the time and culture of Knighthood. This this course we will focus on the Battle of Agincourt.... a decisive time in history. The invasion took a muster of troops... a ship voyage... and then an overland campaign. This past year saw the Anniversary celebration of the Battle at European battle sites and museums. Price includes $100 lab fee. Campers will work with the biomorphic robot Robosapien. Robosapien™ is a sophisticated fusion of technology and personality. Loaded with attitude and intelligence, Robosapien is the first robot based on the science of applied biomorphic robotics. With a full range of dynamic motion, interactive sensors and a unique personality, Robosapien is more than a mechanical companion — hes a multi-functional, thinking, feeling robot with attitude! Campers will learn programming and hacking basics and even turn their Robosapien into a Ninja Bot! Each camper will take home his or her own exciting Robosapien Humanoid Robot. Campers will also build from scratch our Vibrobot soldering project and construct a bot using a toothbrush. We highly recommend taking Camp Robot Mechanic prior to this camp. Camp Space Engineer is a LEGO building and robotics camp designed for campers ages 6-8. Activities and experiments explore space with an emphasis on collaborating with the International Space Station astronauts. During each activity campers will be using LEGO components to build a variety of space vehicles and simple machines and robots. They will also work to build and launch two ESTES rockets. Each day has four Science Labs, which allow campers to build and participate in the LEGO activities. The day starts with a science demonstration with the rest of the camp, which highlights a science principle. Pet owners Roger and Anita live happily in London with their Dalmatians Pongo and Perdita, stalwart dogs devoted to raising their puppies. Everything is quiet until Anitas former classmate the monstrous Cruella De Vil plots to steal the puppies for her new fur coat.
