Ever wonder why a pedestrian is someone who travels by foot but a pediatrician is a childrens doctor? Knowing that pedestrian is from the Latin word pedes (foot) and pediatrician is from the Greek word pedia (child) will help you not only keep these common words straight, but also decipher more obscure words derived from the same roots. 65 percent of English comes from Greek and Latin. A solid foundation in the Greek and Latin roots of English provides skills to decode a word, often without looking it up. Not curious yet? Did you know that the prefix dis is from Latin meaning apart or away from, while the prefix dys is from Greek meaning bad? The prefix ante is Latin for before; anti is Greek for against. This class will provide you with the tools needed to boost your English vocabulary, avoid many common errors and raise your scores on the English and Reading portions of the SAT and ACT exams. Many of the class activities parallel typical questions on the exams, allowing for immediate application of these invaluable skills. Final Summer 2016 Kid's Riding Camp - Georgetown, TX
Sign up now for our last riding camp of the summer for children ages 3 - 18. Camps are half days, and kids learn about safety first, equipment, horses and riding in our soft-sand enclosed and covered round pen and enclosed outdoor arena. Kid's are outside getting exercise in the sunshine and fresh air, learning a new skill, having fun, and gaining in self-confidence. What could be better? All classes taught by Eric Clarke, horseman and natural horsemanship clinician with 35+years experience as a professional horse and people trainer, assisted by several of his horsemanship apprentices. Class size is limited. All equpment and horses provided, except for boots (with a bit of a heel please; no sneakers) and helmets (no bicycle helmets). Siblings may share helmets as needed. Little LEGO Maniacs - Old Trail School
Students will get hands-on time with LEGOs and free build creations of their choice. They will also use LEGO Digital Designer on the computers in the lab, experimenting with 3D drawings and computer-aided design. Its a fun time with LEGOs and begin practicing to describe their creations and presenting them to parents and teachers on the last day. Y5s are welcomed to join us for this class. #42 Canoeing (Grades: 9-12) • $425 - Camp Fowler
This trip is reserved only for our senior high campers. The joy of skimming across Adirondack Lakes in kayaks is one to be remembered for a lifetime. Your route will take you north from Long Lake through the Adirondacks most wild and beautiful canoe area. Your group will travel along the Raquette River, into Stony Creek Ponds, and finally into Upper Saranac where a special Island waits for our campers alone. Paddling lakes and rivers, cooking under the stars, and enjoying the company of new and old friends will have you wishing that the trip were longer. 518-631-6789

This camp offers many, many choices. It will be a collection of lots of beads of all colors and lots of charms to choose from. What fun adding art with beading. We will also work with watercolor and teach art through design keeping with our theme for the week. We provide the snacks and drinks, so no need to bring anything. Looking forward to this fun camp. Summer Camp @ Victory Park Group C (9-10) - City of Pasadena
Join one of Pasadenas most popular summer camps! Victory Parks Camp has earned its longstanding reputation as a high-quality, fun, affordable, enriching program. Each day begins with a morning pep rally that sets the stage for an action-packed day. Activities include outdoor play, dance, arts and crafts, including painting, sculpting, lanyard making and chalk drawings, fitness activities and enrichment. Enrichment classes include health, hygiene and first aid instruction, cooking classes, computer and robotics play and specialized sports instruction in tennis and golf. Campers spend at least two hours daily doing physical fitness in the form of choreographed dance, group games, fitness competitions, team sports and supervised free play. Campers are escorted across the park to Pasadena High School?s swimming pool for recreational swim two times per week. Camp counselors go into the water with the campers and well-trained, certified lifeguards are always present. Before entering the pool, campers receive a water safety lesson. Optional swimming lessons available for an additional $20/week. Most field trip fees are included in the weekly fee. Fun field trips are often the highlight of the week. Field trip fees are included in camps costs, but campers may need spending money for some trips....
