Weekly Theme: 4th of July Balance like a palm tree, roar like a lion, and stretch like a giraffe in this fun-filled yoga camp! Camp begins with a 40 minute class where students learn new poses and breathing techniques each day on an imaginary yoga adventure. Class ends by relaxing with peaceful music. After class, the excitement continues with yoga stories and games, a break for lunch, and a creative take-home art activity. Art projects are yoga themed and will relate to the poses learned that day. Fun activities throughout the week include parachute games, treasure hunts, outdoor craft time, face painting, and more! Yoga has been shown to improve focus, confidence, and coordination in children. Please bring a snack, lunch, and water. A $15 nonrefundable material fee is due to the instructor on the first day of camp. -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- PRIORITY ONLINE REGISTRATION (for Santa Monica Residents only) runs March 2 (6 am) through March 8. Are you growing old waiting for Teen Camp to start again??? Missing your friends?? Well you are in luck! Odyssey Teen Camp get together in Central Park, Sunday, December 4th from about 12:00-3:00! .... This feels like a really good time to connect with old and new friends and just be together for a few hours. I know many of you live too far to get to NYC for a few hours, but you will be there in spirit. We are going to meet in Central Park at a place called Arthur Ross Pinetum. It's kind of a playground, and small field, that is fenced. It's on the West side of the Park, near 84th Street and Central Park West. It will probably be chilly, so dress nice and warm. It won't be a big deal, we will hang out , eat donuts and pizza, and other healthy food options. I may have new long sleeved t-shirts to give you if your willing to do a little social media marketing for camp. Feel free to bring along any friends. Investigate ideas, and discover creative ways of thinking through unique experiences with art. Through a variety of fun activities in and around The Derryfield School, Creative Campers will become more confident in their ability to observe, analyze, and problem-solve. Emphasizing the power of imagination and innovation, campers will be encouraged to create their own works of art using a variety of media and materials. Students will explore simple robotics using LEGO WeDo. Each week they will build models, attach sensors and motors that are plugged into a computer, and configure behaviors using simple programming. Four themes will be introduced including: Amazing Mechanisms, Wild Animals, Play Soccer and Adventure Stories. As students advance through the program extension projects can be added for those who are ready for more challenging projects.
