LATEST CAMPS NEWS: Musical Theatre & Movement (Saturday) - The Little Theatre of Alexandria
This class is designed for preschool to 2nd grade students. Youngsters will enjoy learning and singing popular childrens musical theatre classics, e.g. The Lion King, Aladdin, Beauty & The Beast, The Little Mermaid, Peter Pan, The Sound of Music. They will also be introduced to simple musical theatre dance steps, all in a gentle, relaxed environment. INSTRUCTOR HEATHER SANDERSON studied classical theatre at RADA in London and prior to moving to Alexandria acted extensively in the San Francisco Bay Area. As "Miss Heather", she is known locally for instilling a love of theatre - in particular Shakespeare - into the hearts of children. Her youth Shakespeare troupes have performed in D.C. and in the U.K. and her privately coached monologue students have performed at the Shakespeare Theatre, the Fords Theatre and numerous community and childrens theatres in the area. Heather may be familiar to fans of British television programs through her Tea with Heather segments on Maryland Public Televisions Afternoon Tea. Hosted this month by Camp Barnabas, providing us a FREE lunch at their office location in Springfield! Leaders will have the opportunity to "connect" with other youth leaders in ministry, and to share ideas and resources! Bring printed material on events you would like to promote to share with the group. You will hear about some great opportunities for ministry through this camp for special needs students. This will also be our "elections" business session at 11:15 prior to lunch. All voting members are encouraged to be present. Also, those who want may join the Coordinator to be praying for our campuses, students, and leaders about 30 min. prior to the start. Lego Lover Fun with Tedi Fagan - St. Davids School
Are you a lover of Legos? If you like to build and create with LEGOS, then, this is the camp for you! Join Mrs. Fagan and friends for a fun-filled morning of creating and building with different Legos and Lego kits the entire week! We will take construction breaks long enough to have a snack. So, get ready to have some LEGO Fun! This camp will include lunch from 12-1. Please be sure to pack your lunch for camp so you can keep having fun as long as possible before its time to go! Summer Clay Camp: Full Day (Week 3) - El Marino Park
Join us for clay and art camp at El Marino Park and enjoy an exciting and creative experience. We will learn how clay is made and used in many cultures around the world and explore working with clay using a variety of techniques and equipment like the slab roller and pottery wheel in addition to the clay work, camp will include special art projects such as mixed media sculpture drawing acrylic painting water color and fiber art. Growing Scientists: Wheels & Wings - CuriOdyssey
How much water can fit on penny? Can you stir up floating bubbles and puffy foam? Join this camp to explore the physics of things that fall, float, and flutter and the chemistry of solutions that are slippery, sticky, and slimy. Design a cardboard box fort, tinker with a marble run, and experiment with incline planes. Future engineers will be constructing, propelling, and stirring all sorts of contraptions. This camp is perfect for the preschooler that enjoys building and tinkering. Growing Scientists must be at least 3 years old by June 1, 2016, potty trained and able to use the bathroom independently.
