Students will work with clay and learn basic sculptural techniques, including modeling, adding and taking away material. Students will work from objects as models or from their imagination, creating both abstract and figurative sculptures. Learn how to construct light armature as well as techniques for constructing hollow cylinders and spheres and cuboids as the base of their forms. Kids Winter Art Camp: Mixed-Media Masks! - Bellingham, WA
In this winter break art class, we'll imagine that we are in a warm tropical place with palm trees, wild birds singing, and sandy beaches. To inspire our imagination, we’ll learn about the French post-Impressionist artist Paul Gauguin, the location of Tahiti, and a brief history of Tikis. Tiki masks actually have a long, rich history in Polynesian culture. The Tiki masks were originally hand-carved wooden masks that were used to symbolize deities, give protection, and increase luck. We'll create our own colorful and textured papers with paints with a variety of brushes, and different items to make texture, in mixed-media format, then use the painted papers to create our Tiki masks. Campers will splash their way through a week of awesome aquatic activities with a variety of water adventures in some of the most elaborate aquatic facilities that Northeast Ohio has to offer. Under the watchful eyes of John Pintola and Jeff Eason (certified lifeguards), your child will enjoy water slides, lazy rivers, diving boards, zip lines, paddle boats, kayaking and more. Bring swimsuit, towel, sack lunch, water bottle and SUNSCREEN each day. Fee includes admission to all water parks. NOTE: This program begins one hour later and ends one hour later, so please adjust your transportation arrangements accordingly.
