Chess Wizards Summer Camp (K - 8th Grade) - Winnetka Community House
Would you like to go on a journey to learn cool openings, mid-games with all the pins, double attacks, endgames and even bughouse? Would you like to be a part of a successful chess team, designed to cater to all levels of chess players? If so, join Chess Wizards for this camp! Campers will learn how to play chess in a fun atmosphere with both indoor and outdoor activities. This camp is for beginning and intermediate level players. No previous experience is needed. Children should bring their own lunch and a drink, but snacks will be provided. All campers will receive a chessboard, a Chess Wizards shirt, score book, trophy, work folder and certificate of achievement! Cricket/Beachcomber Girls "A long time ago, in a Camp far, far away..." Session 3A - Camp Kirby
This 3 night mini-session is a great introduction to Camp Kirby! Crickets & Beachcombers are entering 1st, 2nd & 3rd grades, and live in cabins near the beach. They find a loving, non-competitive program where they can experience being at camp in a nurturing environment. Activities include boating, water-play, sleeping under the stars, hiking to Snow Whites cabin, performing skits, arts and crafts, and cooperative games. Staff ratio is 1:6 campers. 3607335710.0

Treasure Hunting with Stamps! Letterboxing! - The Evergreen School
A week of stamp making, hiking and treasure hunting. Students will create their own stamps, follow directions, and find hidden letterboxes. They will stamp in and collect stamps from each of our daily hikes. We will even make our own letterboxes, write up the clues and hide them for others to find. Students will be hiking approximately 1-3 miles daily with plenty of time for breaks, lunch, play, and treasure hunting. Children must bring a lunch, a full water bottle, and should wear sturdy sneakers or hiking boots. The class will be outdoors all day walking fairly easy trails. Letterboxing is a great prologue to geocaching. 206-957-1533

Arts on the River Camp - MacPhail Center for Music - Minneapolis
$225 for members of participating organizations; $250 for non-members Come to our waterfront to play music, get creative, bake bread and construct books while exploring the theme of "water." Children enjoy new experiences each day at four top arts centers, including the Guthrie Theater, Mill City Museum, Minnesota Center for Book Arts and MacPhail Center for Music. Campers will start each day at Mill City Museum and walk with camp leaders less than three blocks to each art organization. Early drop off between 8:30 - 9:00 and late pick up between 3:30 - 4:00 available.
