Summer Camp Fair 2016 Date: Friday, April 22 from 3 p.m. - 7 p.m. Saturday, April 23 from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. Location: James City County Recreation Center, 5301 Longhill Rd, Williamsburg, VA 23188. This is the 3rd Annual Summer Camp Fair brought to you by WilliamsburgFamilies.com, the Virginia Gazette and James City County Parks and Recreation. We plan to have 40+ Camps, Sports, Dance, Arts, Overnight and Special Interest Camps and programs. Pools, Swim teams, VBS, and more! SUNDAY MAY 15th at Osbourn High School football fields in Manassas 9:00-12:00 kids ages 4-15 Football agility drills,blocking,tackling techniques,running,kicking,speed and agility and much more !! $25 per child on site registration first come first served. IN CASE OF STEADY RAIN CAMP WILL BE RESCHEDULED FOR A LATER DATE. RULES: * $25 per child CASH ONLY no checks or credit cards *Parents will not be allowed on the fields but may watch from outside the fence. Using the Youth Theatre season as inspiration, students will explore painting, drawing and various art media. They will enjoy developing authentic self-expression while exploring story lines, history and production themes with class artwork exhibited during each show. Wrestling - The Philadelphia School
Through games, drills, instruction, and sparring, boys and girls will learn the art and craft of wrestling. Participants will practice using their bodies creatively and efficiently. By tackling common challenges and working hard together, campers will form strong peer bonds. Built into each day will be team-building activities and character-development conversations. Wrestlers will gain competence and confidence while, most importantly, having fun! Early drop off is available at no additional cost from 8:00am-9:00am. Ceramics 2 - Wild Animals - Artists Exchange
Animals, Animals, Animals! Make and bird out of a flat piece of clay or turn a clay bowl into a piggy bank. Campers will learn basic clay hand building techniques in this week of camp where kingdom Animalia rules supreme. Ceramics camps allow children to immerse themselves in clay studio studies ranging from basic hand building, wheel throwing, and sculpting. Campers will learn a variety of skills designed to fit the camp they are in. Ceramic focus campers will learn the technical aspects of recycling, slab work, build a simple kiln from a metal trash can and firing pottery in it. All under the guidance of a professional potter and the fire department. Clay adventures offers a beginners taste of experimenting with clay. LIGHT TO DARK: DARKROOM EXPLORATION - Walker-MacKenzie Studio - Gertrude Herbert
Instructor: Rosanne Stutts The technical aspects of black-and-white photography will be emphasized so that students can work more creatively with their camera and in the darkroom. Camera operations, use of equipment such as lenses, tripod, and light meter, and correct film selection are among the topics to be covered. Learn basic density and contrast controls for both negatives and prints, along with proper film development. Basic darkroom procedures, safety, printmaking techniques, burning and dodging, toning, archival processing and print presentation will also be discussed. Please bring your own 35-mm camera with manual controls.
