Stitch Camp-Embroidery, Machine and Hand Sewing - Horizons K-8 School
Have you ever wished you knew how to sew? Learn sewing machine basics and how to embroider decorative stitches in this fun half-day camp. We will emphasize process as well as product so that students become confident stitchers. Students will work in small project groups to create interesting and functional items that reflect their personality. Everyone will sew and embroider their own pillow, a fabric-covered notebook, a tote bag, earbud caddies, and more. Students will also take home an embroidery sewing kit and project patterns. Week 4 AM - Taste of Optis - NESS
Its never too early to get on the water! The Taste of Optis class is designed for kids aged 6-11 and does not require sailing experience. Meant to be a fun group experience, it enables kids to get a taste of sailing in one week of instruction. Students will become familiar with water safety on the docks and in an optimist trainer, while learning what it feels like to be on the water. Over the week the students will be introduced to the different parts of the boat, knots, rigging and steering. Physical Programming w/ Processing (AM) - The Digital Arts Experience
Come for 1 or 2 weeks! All students will receive their own DAE 8GB flash drive to store their work on and take home. Previous knowledge of the basics of computer science or a programming language are recommended. This course will explore taking programming off of the computer screen. An Arduino Microcontroller will be used together with Processing code to create interactive programs.
