LATEST CAMPS NEWS: Treasure Hunting with Stamps! Letterboxing! - The Evergreen School
A week of stamp making, hiking and treasure hunting. Students will create their own stamps, follow directions, and find hidden letterboxes. They will stamp in and collect stamps from each of our daily hikes. We will even make our own letterboxes, write up the clues and hide them for others to find. Students will be hiking approximately 1-3 miles daily with plenty of time for breaks, lunch, play, and treasure hunting. Children must bring a lunch, a full water bottle, and should wear sturdy sneakers or hiking boots. The class will be outdoors all day walking fairly easy trails. Letterboxing is a great prologue to geocaching. 206-957-1533

We are going around the world with this multi faceted day camp for kids! We will explore the art, language and culture of several different countries, including Brazil, Morocco and Japan. A variety of activities will fill our time together - art, sports, music and more! Campers will create and fill in their "passports" as we visit a new country each day. The camp will focus on learning and establishing fundamental skills in all facets of softball. There will be both individual and team instruction throughout the weekend. We will have fun and exciting drills that will incorporate softball skills for all levels in attendance. We want to encourage the love and knowledge for the sport of softball and want players leaving camp excited about the next chance they get to play. This course is designed to improve reading ability in comprehension, speed, and vocabulary. The required summer reading book from the appropriate grade level will be the text. Students will have the opportunity to take the summer reading assessment at the end of the course. They will not have to take the assessment in the fall. Taught by Mr. Chris Kiehn. Week 8: Day Camp Assistant Training (Leadership Development) - Camp Tanadoona
Day Camp Assistant (DCA) Training is the first step in Tanadoonas leadership development program. DCAs spend the first half of the week engaging in teambuilding workshops and interactive leadership training with lead camp staff. Training includes first aid, behavior management, specialty programming and basic counselor skills. DCAs immediately apply their training when they are partnered with Tanadoona Counselors to assist with Day Camp groups during the second half of the week. Staying overnight on Thursday to help with the Thursday Overnight campers provides additional experiential learning. We recommend a minimum of two years of DCA before progressing to CIT. 612-235-7284
