Campers will get together with other princesses to make a fashionable new ensemble for ruling their realm! They will make princess jewelry and jewelry box, a princess skirt and even their own mini castle out of clay! OR Campers will learn to be a super hero while creating their own super outfit. Faster than a speeding bullet......stronger than steel.......or even invisible? They will make their ultra identity and outfit, utility belt, and special tools for their power and even make an arch-nemesis out of clay. Mon, July 11, 2016 - Fri, July 15, 2016 Summer Art Camp at the SCGA Morning Classes: 9:00am - 12:00pm: Fun in the Mud (Ages 4-7) In this beginner’s pottery class students will be introduced to different kinds of clay, the pottery wheel, a variety of hand-building skills and colorful glazes. We will draw inspiration for our creations from children’s stories as we combine art, storytelling and play in this unique class offering. Space is the Place (Ages 4-7) “Houston, we have lift off!” Join us for a week of activities designed to engage our youngest students through both visual art and science. We will learn about rockets, the Milky Way, black holes, the solar system, our unique moon and more through painting, sculpture, and mixed media art projects. Modern Masters (Ages 8-12) introduces children to the wonderful world of Van Gogh, Cézanne, Dali, Chagall and Matisse. Using famous works of art to understand the artist’s styles, children reproduce their own artwork. These lessons are classic examples of how mixing art history with simple, foundational techniques can create the most beautiful works of art. We are so excited to be launching our brand new youth program with 2 exciting new offerings, Elemental Circus Camp and Sunday open level youth classes. Sign up for one or both weeks of Elemental Circus Camp this summer. Youth of ages 6-16 will undergo a circus adventure including age and skill appropriate lessons in performance, aerial arts, tumbling, balance and coordination, juggling, dance and magic. Youth will be grouped by age, and do not need to have any previous circus experience. With the exception of students advanced in aerial, gymnastics, or dance training, who will have the opportunity to submit an audition video to be grouped in an advanced mixed age group covering material more appropriate to their level. Its a week of water-filled fun! Plan to get wet (and muddy) as we explore our bit of the Chesapeake Bay watershed. Well compare fresh and saltwater habitats through hands-on experiences like sampling for water-dwelling animals and performing simple water tests. Field trips will take us to see where our water comes from, how water is treated after we use it, and on a visit to the Chesapeake Bay. Well also spend time boating and fishing as we learn all about water, the plants and animals that live there, and how to better care for our watershed. The Baker University Soccer Programs and BCRC will host the Baker University Premier Soccer Camp this June 25-27 at the Baldwin City campus this summer for ages 10-18 for both boys and girls. The camp will be under the direction of Nate Houser, Baker University Director of Soccer; Davy Phillips, Head Coach of Baker University Womens Soccer Team and Matt Trumpp, former Baker University All-American and Sporting KC Academy Head Coach. The overnight camp will run from 8 a.m. – 10 p.m. each day with breakfast, lunch and dinner mixed in with technical sessions, tactical sessions, video/pool sessions, and evening games. An early bird special is in place for those that register before June 1. The costs include professional instruction, three meals a day, housing in on-campus residential halls and a camp T-shirt.
