This non-credit review course is designed for rising seventh, eighth, and ninth graders. Successfully completing the course (and passing the summer reading quizzes and tests on any book studied in the class) will satisfy the summer reading requirement for students enrolling at MUS for the 2016-17 school year. 2nd Session - Martial Arts - YSCP
My name is Amanda Wilt. I will be the martial arts instructor for the YSCP Extended Day Program. I am a 3rd degree black belt in Tae Kwon Do. I am both a teacher and a student of TKD. As most of us know, learning is something that is year round and a never ending practice. I would like to tell you a little about myself, so you may know me better. I received my B.S. degree in Special Education at Bloomsburg University (K-12). After college I taught through the CIU #10 and was placed in classrooms throughout the districts. I taught in Philipsburg-Osceola, Park Forest Middle School, and State College H.S. (9th/10th grades). Although I loved teaching, I made the difficult decision to stay home and homeschool my children when they arrived. I began my martial arts training at the age of 14 and started my children at Youngs Tae Kwon Do School in Bellefonte, PA when they were elementary age. They both attained the rank of black belt before they left to continue their studies in college. I was also an assistant coach for the Bellefonte H.S. swim team for 4 years. For Boys ages 6-12 years old. Players of all abilities are welcome to join us for a fun instructional camp of lax drills, skill competitions, contests and games! Players will be divided up into two main groups by age and will focus on the basic fundamentals of the game. Players will be coached by former high school coaches, college and high school players and each group in the camp will be supervised by an adult coach. Players must bring their own equipment. Full equipment required: helmet, shoulder pads, elbow pads, gloves, mouth guard and a stick. Bring a peanut free snack and refillable water bottle. While producing a group film, each student will experience several aspects of the creative process. Topics covered include storyboarding, camera techniques, sound and music, and scriptwriting.
