Our Little River Otters program is modeled around German Waldkindergartens, in which all of our class time is spent entirely outside! Rolling enrollment continues based on availability Outdoor classrooms naturally create endless learning opportunities for our children to nurture their own curiosity, perhaps by following animal tracks and sign, making wild crafts with leaves and treasures found on the forest floor, or using fallen logs as balance beams. Adult mentors assist in the learning, rather than lead the teachings. This is different from a "nature preschool," which infuses lessons with nature-inspired themes and balances indoor time with outdoor time, as we will be outside the ENTIRE time in all but extreme weather conditions. Come join the excitement of Adventure Camp with the San Bruno Parks and Recreation Services Department. Adventure Camp provides a fun and exciting experience for teens ages 11-13. Leaders provide a safe environment that helps teens develop social skills and the appreciation for the environment. Maker Station-Fine Arts - Amador Elementary School
MAKER STATION Come build with us this summer! Your child will be working with a variety of materials in a STEAM maker station. Students will create their own science or art projects. They will also deconstruct items and study reverse engineering to examine how things work. Our station includes beginning snap circuits, Brackitz bionic blocks, and an introduction to coding when we build mazes for our very own Bee-Bot robot. As an added bonus in the station, we also have GoldieBlox kits to encourage more girls to get excited about building. The Maker Station encourages creativity, exploration, and innovation. August 1-4: Secret Language of Birds (Ages 5-7) - Mountain Kids!
Birds are beautiful and expressive animals that we can see and hear daily. Learning bird language opens up a whole new way of understanding our forests and what is happening around us. We will look for birds in the wild and visit the Wildlife Center for an educational program and close-up view of some beautiful raptors and other birds and mammals. Solids, Liquids, Gases, Oh My! Have you ever wondered how to make a liquid grow spikes? Or why your cookie recipe needs baking soda? Or how to make liquid water that is colder than ice? This is the camp to get those answers all while having fun. Students will experiment with safe, hands on projects and games exploring the tiniest bits of matter. Each day we will look at a different topic of chemistry and have several activities and experiments related to that topic. Some topics may include food chemistry.
