Garden Sprouts (Grandparent and Me) (AM) - Ned Smith Center for Nature & Art
Children love being outside playing in the soil, and they love exploring how plants grow in a garden. Join us as we channel your childs natural curiosity as we learn about flowers and edibles from planting to plate. This camp will include a variety of projects plus tastings of a variety of plants and plant parts ranging from roots to flowers (these are all things you normally eat.). Date: Thursday, August 11th 1:30 p.m. – 4:00 p.m. or Friday, August 12th 9:30 a.m. – 12:00 p.m. Ages: 4 – 8 with an adult Instructors: Deb Frantz, Rich Frantz, Kuen Spichiger, Santino Lauricella, Beth Sanders NOTE: Choose ONE OF TWO sessions for this camp. This camp is an introduction into the world of robotics. Campers will be introduced to six simple machines and how they are incorporated into more complex machines. Campers will learn about circuits and power sources as they build our Mars-like RC Rover. The radio-controlled RC Rover is capable of performing 23 experiments and activities. Campers will also have fun constructing our Aluminum Can Robot and will work in the areas of observation, experimentation and trial and error as they build, race, and experiment with their robots. Each week there will be a different format played, with points being awarded based on position finished.
