LATEST CAMPS NEWS: Future Robot Creator - United Faith Christian Academy
Entry-level robotics and programming. Campers get a head start on simple robotics using LEGO® Education WeDo™ components and easy to use software. Our young creators will build models, attach sensors and motors, and configure behaviors using a simple programming tool. Counselors guide and encourage exploration and trial and error field-testing. Instead of simply snapping bricks together, campers are encouraged to think critically about how their robot design can be changed and to understand more complicated engineering techniques such as gear use, pulleys, and inclined planes. Robot models include a variety of animals, soccer players, amazing mechanisms, and adventure stories. When ready, campers move to advanced building and programming projects that include: a Racecar, Ferris wheel, and Carousel. As the week draws to a close, campers can utilize the skills they have learned to build an X-wing fighter or Marine helicopter. Parents are invited to join us on Fridays Family Day to view their childs creations. Campers will also complete a small LEGO® project that they will be able to take home. 7047743016.0

Amazing Experience!
I sent my two kids (9 and 13) to Alton Jones for the first time last summer, they absolutely loved it. My 9 year old did Earth Camp, he loved tree-climbing and kayaking the most! My 13 year old did Teen X Adventure and also loved climbing (she did rock climbing!) and the water park.
I was concerned about the cabins, since most camps have a busy basic set up, but these were great, I wish I had cabins like this when I was a kid!

Film Premiere Stages for Youth Summer Film Camp - Cincinnati, OH
***PLEASE NOTE VENUE CHANGE*** Join Stages For Youth in celebrating the accomplishments of 30 young filmmakers who attended the 2016 Stages For Youth summer film bootcamp. Participants, ages 12 to 19, from SCPA, Springer, Clark, Walnut, Bethany House, Seven Hills, Mercy, Purcell, Waldorf, Aiken, Withrow, as well as home educated, YWCA Rosie’s Girls and The Squash Academy came to Stages For Youth and were challenged...to make a short film…in only 2 weeks! Along the way they learned the film craft, they created, collaborated, debated, negotiated, and problem solved…and all came away with mission accomplished, a testament to their creativity, resolve, teamwork, and spirit. Movies will start around 8:30 PM in beautiful Union Hall. Total run time is about one hour and will be followed by awards. We have a hundred chairs and then some, so please bring your friends. This is a free, public, family event and all are welcome!

Shooting & Finishing (12-14y) - Swope Soccer Village
This is a recreational & competitive level camp open to boys and girls 6-14 years-old. Players will improve their performance on the attack by becoming the ultimate threat in the offensive third: The goal scorer. Players will learn proper mechanics and techniques of shooting and finishing in various game-like scenarios. After completion of the Shooting & Finishing camp, we recommend progressing to the Goalkeeper & Striker Training course. Explore robotics during this week-long camp designed for incoming 1st and 2nd graders. Campers will use LEGO WeDo technology to build mechanisms, learn correct troubleshooting procedures, and witness their hand-built creations come to life! Elementary Robotics will challenge campers with various engineering problems and develop their potential. Our Orange Crushers class is a great fit for both the beginner and intermediate young player. This class is designed to continue building an athletic base while teaching the fundamentals necessary to serve, rally, and score. Children also begin to learn more advanced movement, technique, and patterns of play utilizing the larger court space. Players will be able to demonstrate understanding of advanced technique and tactics. 904-256-5071
Middle School Team Camp - Beck Center
This is a TEAM camp that will have very little instruction but will be set up more for Middle School teams getting prepared for the upcoming season. There will be different forms of tournaments set up that will vary based on the score of each set along with a traditional tournament that will run throughout the entire 3 days. The camp is $45 per camper and they will receive a lunch on all 3 days. Also, there is a team minimum of 8 kids per middle school.
