Cookie Chemistry - Brebeuf Jesuit Preparatory School
Did you know that your favorite sweet treats are the product of an interesting array of chemical reactions? Tie on your apron! Its time to bake some sweet treats as we have fun learning about the science of baking and kitchen safety. Participants in this session will learn the science behind baking the perfect cookie as well as the proper way to measure and mix ingredients, kitchen safety, baking techniques, and how to overcome baking challenges as we make a different type of cookie each day (including at least one gluten free option). Ms. Suzanne Russell earned her M.S. in Library Science from Indiana University. She is the subject area librarian for Brebeufs Religious Studies and Science departments. Camp open to boys and girls entering grades 3 - 8 Instructor: Ryan Robinson, Amy Mc Neil and Michelle Robinson Enjoy the experience of running on Waterfords acclaimed Cross Country course at Hess-Hathaway Park. Under the tutelage of veteran teachers/coaches, boys and girls will learn the joy of an exercise program revolving around cross country running can bring with a group of running companions. Camp will be structured to fully include beginners as well as experienced runners and will include elements suitable to all campers. Camp includes a t-shirt and refreshments. Morning: Levers, Trebuchets & Catapults What happens when you combine levers and robotics? Medieval machines, catapults, trebuchets, draw bridges, hammers, clock and walking robots! Do you know the difference between a trebuchet and a catapult? Can you make a robotic clock? Here is your opportunity to learn about the different types of levers while building Lego robots. In Levers, Trebuchets & Catapults you will nail the competition while time and the ping pong balls of warfare fly as you break down enemy walls and minions. A little modern technology and Lego can defy the impossible. Note: Even though between some weekly sessions there might appear the same program names, in our actual education program, we will have different depth of technology and engineering principles to be applied by our children under our inspirational guidance... Community Boating Center of New Bedfords mission is to "Teach positive life values to youth through boating." This summer we are working even more in incorporate US Sailings REACH program into our summer programs. The REACH program works to teach children science, technology, engineering and math in fun and innovative ways. It helps kids learn STEM subjects while engaging in fun land and water based activities. Our programs also follow the philosophy of safety, fun and learning in that order. This summer Community Boating has Chosen to assign students to their classes.
