LATEST CAMPS NEWS: Summer Daze Outdoor Adventure Camp - LIFE Community Center
Giant City, Pomona Natural Bridge and Cave-in-Rock are just some of the places we will visit during this week. We will also sneak in a trip to the Chocolate Factory and Dixon Springs State Park. -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Make sure your child (grade 1-6) is a part of this awesome summer. Guided by our American Red Cross Certified Staff, this summer promises to be one adventure after the other. Campers should bring a swimsuit and towel, sunscreen and bug spray, a water bottle and lunch everyday. Afternoon snack will be provided. Children should wear clothes that can get dirty and comfortable shoes that they can wear while running and hiking. Camp will run from 8:00 am - 4:00 pm. Before and after care is available for an additional fee. A weekly newsletter will give parents and campers an idea of what to expect each week. Join us for a summer of adventure, friendship and fun! APPLICATION: Integrated Science (Blended) 6/20 to 7/1 (Online) & 7/17 to 7/22 (Residential) - Selective Application for Integrated Science
Serving underrepresented and economically disadvantaged students who have talent and interest in mathematics and science is a high priority of the Illinois Mathematics and Science Academy. We believe that we must actively recruit from all regions of the state of Illinois. In addition, we believe we must address the challenges of underrepresented and economically disadvantaged students through contact and intervention in the form of academic enrichment programming. This is one of those programs. The Academy continues to create and develop a culturally rich and inclusive environment that affirms and celebrates individual differences. The Integrated Science Program is a competitive application program, for students who have completed 8th grade and 1 year of pre-algebra and who are interested in application to IMSAs Residential High School Program. Required Documentation: To be considered for application for the Integrated Science Program, documentation of the following are required: 1. Completion of the 8th grade 2. Completion or enrollment in 1 year of pre-algebra 3. A Teacher Recommendation (form attached) 4. High Desert Museum - High Desert Museum
Our popular day camps return with exciting experiential themes. Campers can learn firsthand what its like to be an animal keeper and care for our rescued wild animals, discover frontier life skills, experiment with earth science and create art and photography inspired by High Desert nature and culture. Our childhood education experts have designed these week-long day camps to inspire ages 5 through 10 with unique, enriching hands-on experiences. Our campers have so much fun, they dont realize how much they are learning! Parents rave about the quality and value of our camps. Every day, children in each camp meet the Museums live animals, such as owls, porcupines and reptiles, and learn about them from our biologists and educational staff. Students work in small groups to explore pulleys, gears, and levers. They complete problem solving activities using physics and math and work on structures that require precision. Students also test and use the scientific method to determine which modifications will optimize their machine. These machines are powered by a battery pack. Instructed by Griot Chess. 202-724-8950

Cardio Drumming is sure to get your heart going. A mixture of both cardio exercise and drumming. Drum sticks are required. They can be purchased from the instructor for $10 or borrowed from the instructor. Exercise balls and buckets required at cost to particpant. Please arrive with ball blown up. Dates: June 27-July 1 Time: 6:00 pm – 8:00 pm for Girls Entering Grades 7-12 Format: One-week session Location: Laurels Butler Campus in Russell Township Tuition: Boys-Only Camp: $325/session: Girls-Only Camp: $180/session Get a jump on the season with an intense week of fitness and skill training! This first-class soccer camp focuses on enhancing individual skills, building team tactics and teaching intricacies of the game. In addition to soccer skills, campers will spend time in our state-of-the-art 16,000-square-foot fitness center while working with Laurels certified Strength and Conditioning Specialist to learn about lifting techniques, agility, speed, ACL injury prevention and nutrition. Participants will be split into groups based on age and experience. Coach Dennis Weyn - Director of Coaching for Ohio Premier Soccer Club and Eastside Kickers, Dennis is a former member of the U16 and U18 Dutch National Teams and played professional soccer in the Netherlands and the US.
