SuperStart is an overnight event at Traders Point Christian Church for current 4th and 5th Grade Students. Your child will arrive at HCC on Friday the 22 and return Saturday the 23. Sport Foundations Summer Basketball Camp - Fields/Diamonds/Gym/Courts
Sport Foundations Basketball Skills Academy one day camps are designed to teach and develop basketball skills, including fundamentals of shooting, ball handling, passing, rebounding and defense. Often times with AAU and travel basketball the focus of practice is more on "game play and plays". Developing great shooting technique is becoming a lost art. Footwork and ball handling is underdeveloped at the High School level. The fundamentals of basketball will be taught and then reinforced with a series of drills. The following offensive series will be taught and drilled: shooting, basket attack, low post moves, high post moves, ball handling, rebounding and defense. Sport Foundations will use recent research on focus of attention to create muscle memory responses that hold up to psychological and physical stress that occur in competition. The performance of basketball skills are based on motor learning and skill, not just repetition. This camp is for players who have had some basketball experience. Join us as we learn how to create wonderful creatures using a variety of fun art materials. We will work on different surfaces and also with air dry clay in 3-D. Discover how dragons got their fiery reputation, create your own creature puppet, and learn some special art tricks that will help you draw anything you can imagine! Campers will also learn about the ancient Oviraptor, the artist Marc Chagal while they create their very own mythical masterpiece to bring home! Description: Learn to identify birds by sight and sound, and find out how to make your backyard into a wildlife sanctuary. Get to know other junior bird enthusiasts while hiking, playing games, and doing crafts during a week that is truly ?for the birds?. -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Bird Bonanza is a three-day half-day mini-camp at Blue Jay Point County Park for children ages 6-8. All participants should wear play clothes, closed-toe shoes (like sneakers or day hikers) and bring weather appropriate outerwear to each camp session. Prepare for each camp day by bringing a filled water bottle, a simple snack and applying your favorite sunscreen and bug spray. Students will learn how to program their own computer games and simulations, using Microsofts Kodu interactive game development environment and NetLogo, developed at Northwestern University. They will design their own landscapes for their Kodu character to navigate, add apples to collect and score points, and much more in this visual, block-based programming language. Well learn NetLogo by exploring models of ant colonies, traffic simulations, and the theory of wolf-sheep predation. Then students will design their own scenarios and even create games by typing in simple text-based code. No previous experience necessary. 206-957-1533
